What kinds of oils you folks use for your truck or trucks? I recently got two free 5 gallons buckets of CAT DEO 15W40 CI4 oil and I have running that oil since. I usually go out and buy Mobil Delvac 15W40 CJ4 or Valvoline Premium Blue 15W40 CJ4 but I thought hey I got 10 gallons of Cat DEO CI4 for free why not try it out.

Thoughts on the Cat DEO CI4 15W40

Engine seems to run quieter with this oil then the other oils I have used in the past.

Less BB

Cooler oil temp

Bad

The exhaust is really strong.

I have read that since CI4 oil is a older oil and is meant to be ran in older engines it will cause more soot build up in the DPF if your truck is not deleted.

Any other cons that CI4 oil has on a 2007+ EPA engine?

I usually change my oil and filers 5-7K since I tow 10K+ almost everyday

What kinds of oil (type brand viscosity) do you buy?

How much miles do you put on that certain oil before you do a oil change and fuel filters?

Fuel filters

5-7K since where I live diesel contains a lot of water and the fuel is always dirty. loud injectors etc

Keep in mind the filters only have 5-7K on them

I always run a additive (diesel kleen silver bottle, ford PM-22-A)

What fuel additives do you folks run or recommend?

Motorcraft oil filter and fuel filters

Thanks in advance

Shell Rotella synthetic 5W40. Change every 3,000miles. Extreme service. I deal with tons of dust at work. OEM oil filters.

Fuel filters are Donaldson for my airdog. Changed every other oil change.

No additives. EVER.

Racor oil filter every 5k miles. Oil change last time was with 10k miles. Blackstone was good. MC diesel 15w-40.
Used to use Racor fuel filters for factory fuel system but then I got an Airdog and have Donaldson and Baldwin filters on them. Drain once a month. New filters every 15k miles. Fuel bowl is filterless. Will delete.
PM22 in every tank.
Tow and haul at least twice a week.

Valvoline 5w40 syn. Engine is a lot quieter since I switched from conventional, but only reason I ran conventional is because when I work at a garage I could get it for free, nothing like a free $140 oil change and free filters LOL, fuel additive I use power service and I change fuel filters every other oil change

Racor Filters.
Fuel every 10,000.
Delo 15/40 between 3 and 5000. I beat on oil pretty hard though. Truck is used mostly for towing so when running oil temps can get in the 230 range.

I just started ordering oil and fuel filters from sunrise very fast shipping and beats the dealer/o'reilly's prices.

Fuel Filter

Dealer

$76.65

Sunrise

$55.19

Oreilly's

$80.99

Oil Filter

Dealer

$29.43

Sunrise

$21.19

Oreilly's

$26.99

Sunrise

so $55.19 + 21.19 = 76.38

Dealer

76.65 + 29.43 = 106.08

Oreilly's

80.99 + 26.99= 107.98

So I save

$29.7 if I order though sunrise then the dealer or $31.6 if I order though sunrise then oreilly's.

Its not a whole lot of savings but hey at least I don't need to drive to the dealer or oreillys and waste fuel to get them its just a click away LOL and 2 days since I live in Hawaii I don't mind the wait though free UPS shipping you cant beat that. .
