Went to a birthday party last night, ran completely fine, no sign of anything. We went to leave so i hit the remote start and the lights did there remote start thing but it wouldnt fire. Tried starting it in the ignition and nothing, no crank. All kinds of faults came up on the dash screen. Truck is bone stock. Just serviced 2 weeks ago. Im lost.

Nothing... starter relay clicks, no blown fuses. Fuel system primes everything sounds like its ready to start. All except the cranking part.... hopefully we will find out more tomorrow evening.

Can you jump the starter to make sure it's still good?

Any codes? Idk if the 6.7 have them but on the 6.4s we have a wire on the side of the passenger side battery that we can use to jump the starter if they key won't start it.

What ever came of this? I have a ‘13 250 that started with this issues this morning. I can remote start it, put the key in the ignition and drive it. However, it won’t start with the key. It acts like a vehicle that’s hydrolocked.

This happened to my truck recently. Wife drove it to work and wouldn't start with key in ignition. I got there walked out and remote started the truck and it started like normal. I thought WTF? Turned it off and tried with key in ignition and nothing not even a click.

Read somewhere that when the ignition is turned on in the run position, if the pcm reads less than so many volts it wont start. When started with the remote it doesn't look at the voltage and will start if it'll crank over.

I changed the batteries and it started after like normal with key in or by remote.

My 2012 bone stock 6.7 now has this issue,, batteries test good, no crank with key or remote. Swapped relay, checked starter fuse and both good. Scanner not showing any codes. Please help as I am at a loss. TIA.

Big thanx to Andy (Arisley)!!!!!! After a few phone conversations we nailed it down to it being the starter itself, new one should be here tomorrow. are there specific torque specs for the starter or just 2 grunt tight?

As old as we are getting, it's now a three grunt tight.
First, always rule out the low tech issues before looking for high tech issues. For the most part, I have found that the same things break on these new vehicles that have been breaking on vehicles since the Model T. Well a little newer, they didn't have a starter.
