Go to Marty's Diesel Performance. He has some pictures of his e-fuel with Cat filters. His kit has the option of Cat or Napa filters. He gives the filtration specs of and size of each.

not happy with the micron #'s on the cat filters...

I'm gonna stick with the filters Wix/Napa filters Mark sells with his kit.

fleet filters has a good price BTW....

I just thought the Cat filters would make me look cool.... But I ain't never been cool....

I believe the difference between the napa and cat is the filtering efficiency. I believe the way I've heard it explained is Cat's will not let anything larger than 2 micron through and that napa if it says it's 98% efficiency will block 98% of particles 2 micron and larger. I'm possibly totally wrong on that.

But just curious what is it that you don't like about the cat numbers?

Well,
They are 2" longer and not comfortable with them hanging that low.
they are outside frame rail under driver door.

are far as the #'s

marty quotes cat filters at:
pre-10 micron
post-2 micron

my napas are:
pre-32 micron
post- 2

not sure which is better.... 10 or 32

32 is finer I assume?? or is it the opposite....?
duh..

anyway,
I'm happy with the price even if the shipping was a little high...
Napa in town wants 20 bucks EACH plus tax.

The micron rating is the size particle it filters down to. A 10 filters more( will catch smaller particles) than a 32

Do any of you guys use an O-ring INSIDE?

while searching for filters I found this in an Amazon review...

Your thoughts?

If you use a WIX 33528 or the NAPA 3528 you MUST install a BALDWIN O-Ring Part # ES24-B BUNA O-Ring on the Center Post,
if you use a CAT 1R-0750 Filter you will need the BALDWIN ES24-D style O-Ring ,
the difference between these two O-Rings is the ES-24-B is Thicker to make up for the deep recessed open end of the WIX/NAPA and Donaldson and similar filters.
The ES-24-D O-Ring isn't as thick because if you compare the CAT Fuel Filter to the others you will see that the CAT filters are almost Flush on the mounting (Open End) and do not have a Recessed center Mounting hole like the WIX and others.

I use the Cart 1R-750 and run a pre filter Donaldson P55 8000 it’s a water separator, twist drain on bottom of steel spin on canister. 15 microns iirc with same thread and size as the Cat 1R 750. Have the P55 8000 pre pump and 1R 750 post pump. Systems worked flawlessly with stock 7.3 e fuel pump and a 6.0 Pump retrofitted to my OBS trucks. Logged hundreds of thousands of Kms not one problem. In fact putting same system on Sons OBS and will be makin nuther one for new to me OBS.

This is a real issue. Not running the post seal leaves a path for contaminates to leak through the threads and bypass the filter.

My company has a national account with Baldwin and I buy direct, get to spend time with factory reps etc.

Cat filters are made under contract. Sometimes by Baldwin.

Baldwin was recently bought by Parker. We will see if they ruin it or not!

Primary filter/separator Cat 175-2949 & secondary Cat 1R-0749 (2 micron absolute). These are extended service, why not?
