And this looks like a lifter hold down to me.

Gonna have to pull heads I'm afraid
Finally got the head off today.

Lifter was just lying there and part of the lifter hold down is MIA. Cam looks good at first glance. Cylinder looks really good to, I haven't finished draining it yet tho. Injector looked good, too.

I'll clean it up tomorrow and get more/better pics tomorrow.

Found the rest of the lifter retainer. It was in the head.

You can definitely see where the Piston smacked the valve. There's a little bit of burn on the piston but it does not seem to be cracked or otherwise damaged. The cross hatching is still visible in the cylinder and there is no visible damage in the cylinder either.

Thoughts? I know compression is the only major concern after this, but by looking at the cylinder walls I'd assume the rings are intact as there is no damage.

Put it back together, fire it up and run it.

^This. Ive run 6.4s with a bunch more valve marks with no issues. Only thing id probably do is pop the valve that hit out and make sure it isnt bent. Maybe just fill up the port in the head with brake clean and see if it leaks out the valve. This would really just be for chits and grins, as it will be one of those if you check it it will be fine, if you dont, you know the head will be coming back off, moments.

Already ordered new valves and seals, they aren't expensive, so why not.

Finally got around to removing the injectors and shipping them out to be rebuilt. Went with Rosewood, as Jim has an excellent reputation and has been great at getting back to me when I had questions. Premium rebuilt stock injectors.

Pulled the valves as well, they appear to be perfectly straight. Not sure if I should just run them or go ahead and use the new ones. I need to finish cleaning the head/block and reinstall the heads. Should have everything ready to go by the time the injectors come in.

Ordered an auxiliary transmission cooler and filter as well.
