I’ve been running Schaeffers 9000 5w40 in my 6.0 powerstroke and lml duramax for years now. I was wanting to run it in my new 2019 6.7 when the oil monitor tells me to change it. I looked on a list of approved oils for the 6.7, and their 10w-30 and 15w40 is on their, but the 5w40 isn’t. Has anybody used it in their new 6.7s? I was hoping to use the same oil in all 3 of my trucks, but I might have to swap to 15w40 to do so. I’d hate to run anything other than the 5w40 in the 6.0, and Schaeffers is all that I will run. Any help would be appreciated.

I use Schaeffer’s 5w40 in both our 17 6.7’s. One has 50,000 miles and the other 92,000 miles. Motorcraft filters.
It might be overkill, but both those trucks tow all the time, and I change oil and filter every 5,000 miles, fuel filters (Motorcraft) every 10,000 miles.

That’s what I figured. I imagined if the 15w40 and 10w30 were both approved, the 5w40 should be as well. I’ll definitely be working the truck hard. I’m building a welding skid for it now, and it will pull my 40ft gooseneck with tools and materials as well. I’m glad to hear the oil is doing well in them.

I’m running the 10-30 in mine, 722. Supposed to be for extended idle time formulation as mine idles quite of bit while welding pipeline. 205k so far and no issues, 5/2010 build 6.7

I have done 2, both came back with everything good. Honestly, my maintenance intervals are sooner than needed, but it works for me. I use the 10w-30 in the truck as well as the welding machine.

I can’t remember, it’s been several years ago. Truck was approaching 100k mile mark and I sent samples in 2 different times to see if anything appeared abnormal before going out of warranty and extended warranty. I know everything was normal, with it saying intervals could be extended but I’m comfortable with my maintenance schedule. I believe routine maintenance pays for itself. I depend on the truck to make my living, therefore maintenance and repairs have never been a question for me. Look at it like fuel, gotta have it to make money.
