Watching videos while driving

So some buddies and I were on a road trip this past weekend, and my one friend had his phone plugged into the sync USB port to play music off of his phone via apple CarPlay. Someone sent him a YouTube video via text, and when he clicked the video, it actually played on the screen, while driving.

So I'm curious, is this a glitch with the sync 3? Is it possible to get it to do it all the time?

I'm planning on getting the android os setup so I can run ezlynk and other programs on my sync 3.

I got audio but no video

What did you do different ?

It had to be a YouTube video sent to you via text and click the picture part of the video. I'll check with my friend to see if there was anything different. We watched 10-15 videos while drunk bing back that day.

I tried the text and click on pic, didn't work

Just verified this in my 17 expedition without sync 3. Been watching 1320 videos the whole way home. Texted the YouTube link to myself and viola!

Are you copying the link from YouTube and texting it to yourself?

I'm using the wavy right arrow in the upper right corner of the video and selecting share via text to myself

It works on my wifes phone with ios 10
Did not work with ios 9 on my phone
Downloded ios 11 and does not work

I'm on IOS 9 and it works for me. Worked in our 17 Expedition, 17 f150 and my 17 250

My ios 9 did not text a preview of videos only a link to click on and it did not work
My phone with ios 10 works on both my 17 f150 and 17 f350
