I have a 2001 7.3 w/ manual trans in the shop that needs an engine main harness. The customer brought a harness but it is for an automatic truck, it is missing one plug, temp sensor above the CPS.

The harness for manual trucks has been discontinued by Ford. can this harness be made to work? Other options?

What exactly is wrong with the old harness? is it repairable at all?

As far as the adapting the new harness, it is possible to route new wiring to the correct socket on the 42pin connector.
I rebuilt my entire harness. http://powerstrokearmy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83160
It may have helpful information.

Ford Wedgelock Terminals E7EB-14487-AA for the engine side of the 42 pin, E7EB-14461-BA for the chassis side.
This will allow you to add the missing plug. I think they come in packs of 10.

The plug you'll need is available as a pigtail. I'll see if I can dig up the part number and wiring diagram.

The existing harness has been repaired before due to squirrels, it wasn't a very good repair and we are trying to eliminate a skip. Figure it would be best just to replace the whole thing.

Thanks for any info you can dig up

If I am correct, this is a one wire sensor to the engine temp light?
Naturally, I haven't seen it in any of the diagrams I have to know where it goes to the 42 pin connector. Like it never existed. Yet I am pretty sure the manual trans trucks can read this one on forscan.
maybe trace it on the old harness.
Sorry I could not help.

I may have been looking in the wrong place.
IF it uses the same connector as the engine oil temp.
common pin 19
signal pin 18

Let me know if that sounds right.
I think the single wire to the idiot light was for obs trucks.

Yep, you found it, 18 and 19.

The new harness (for automatic truck) has an existing pin in 19 so I assume more than one sensor uses that common.

In theory, I should be able to add this plug and use the new harness.

My plan is to pull the plug and wires off the old harness and add to the new
