Hooting under boost

Now that I have been trying to take a video to capture the sound, I've noticed how inconsistent it is. Sometimes it will hoot, sometimes it wont. sometimes it will hoot once or twice and then it wont for the rest of the day. As soon as I can I will capture a video.

OK I got a couple videos here. Sorry about the talking copilot was in a rambling mood.
http://youtu.be/pftoqjIfNYk In this video you really hear it at the end, I was accelerating and letting off the pedal so the exhaust would quiet down.

You can also here it in this video consistently but it is really hard to pick it out over the exhaust noise.

Something in your air system? Filter bad? Flapper in your intake elbow? Cracked bellow on up pipe? Manifolds loose? Pipe to manifold loose? Dp/up pipe clamp to turbo tight? Pressure test the ic?

That's the exact sound my truck made when the hg were blown, just hearing that brings back memories of not having my truck for a month

Yours sounds a little different but seems very similar.

I am getting ready to dump the last chunk of money into my 6.0.4 project and we are going to do all of the work at once. (Now that we have plenty of work since the hurricane hit)

That's the tea kettle sound for sure. Makes me feel like puking a little everytime I hear that awful sound. Hook a pressure gauge up to your degas bottle to verify for sure though. If yours is venting with that little throttle input then your gaskets are severly blown.

I took a ride with my buddy the other day in his 6.0. At idle his is making the hoot, bad! So since I have a blown gasket I will likely need to mill my heads down and all, correct?

That or they happen to be cracked.....like mine were.

Jon you can grab a set of heads from a decent machine shop for $1300 without cores if yours turn out to be cracked. If they're good, should be able to magnaflux, pressure test, and deck the set for $300 at the most.
