Recently purchased a 1999 f250 7.3 2wd. Reverse was not working when bought. Forward gears worked fine. Removed transmission and tore down. Found the reverse clutches were toast of course. Rebuilt transmission with new steels and frictions. Upgraded springs in valve bodys. Replaced torque(prefilled), solenoid pack, and cooler. Put transmission back into truck and proceeded to test transmission with truck still on jack stands. Place transmission in reverse and reverse works great. Put transmission in neutral and wheels start spinning like its in drive(forward). Placed in D and wheels turn slower than in drive. In 2nd wheels do not move and 1st wheels do not move.

What do you think could be causing this issue? Stuck valve? Solenoid Pack? or did i mess up the direction of a one way clutch?

any help will be appreciated thanks

If all the clutch material from the reverse pack is liberally distributed thru the TC, valve body and cooler, no amount of repairs will stop the endless issues caused by debris floating around.

I don't think it means anything. Normal drag in the clutches can make the wheels turn in neutral. What does it do when you try to drive it?

Never took the truck off the stands due to the fact that no forward motion in manual 1st or 2nd. Removed pan and valve bodys. Checked check ball locations and checked movement of valves. All look good. Probably gonna pull trans and disassemble and check everything again.
