5.4 SPRINGS ON 2WD 6.0

can the front springs on a 2wd 6.0 be swapped for a 5.4 set of springs to get the front end to sit lower like people do on the newer trucks? truck is an 04

04 are still leafs so I'm not 100% sure as to the spring rate you might need. I used gasser springs on my 08, i want to say 5200 or 5400lbs. There are a couple of threads in the 6.4 area. I do recall going one size up from whatever Jeff @ $par tan used on his. -- really i had to edit that??

My swap netted me about 2" drop or so. It was enough I would bottom out on the bump stops on hard bumps, pot holes, etc. I trimmed them to fit but I made sure to leave a bit over 2" of clearance for the axle, frame/engine cradle.

You might want to shoot carey a PM as he has the spring rates for the 7.3 swap. And the weight is close from the 6.0 to the 7.3.

You realize that he's asking about a 2wd pickup correct?

Last I checked 2wd pickups in 04 didn't have leafs in the front...

I'd assume that you could swap springs on 2wd pickups like the 4x4 guys do. You just never hear about it.

Yes correct ace, I know about the lowering spring on the 4wd units and I assume it's the same on the 2wd, just don't see anyone talk about it as mentioned, ;@4 the price I'll grab a set and try it, we took several inches out of the rear and would like to drop front a little bit so the truck has a little rake to it

The Problem I would see, is correcting the camber. I believe that's why it's not talked about.

This is true. Nothing an alignment shouldn't be able to fix. Unless it's too much of a drop to compensate for in a camber bushing.

i think a 4800 pound spring only drops the truck 1.5 inches , so not a crazy drop

It was a long a$$, cr@ppy day, my bad.
But same idea should work.

Any ford dealer tech and/or parts dept should be able to run the VIN for the spring code it came w/. Then start there. Used sets can be had pretty cheap if you shop around. W/ the 6.0 I'm guessing 5800 or 6000lb is standard and find the 2wd code for the 5200 and 5000lb ones.
