Threaded oil filter adapter nipple

Was doing an oil change on my friend's 2016 F550. When I unscrewed the oil filter, the threaded adapter for the filter came out with the filter. Is this normal for it to unscrew?

I put some Permatex #2 on the threads that go into the housing, tightened it up and sent him on his way.

You're good. Have seen this a lot in changing oil in trucks that have been serviced by dealers. It's retarded to run the filter that tight..

It's never good to put silicone sealant on something like that especially post filter, if a piece comes loose it can plug up an oil passage. Use some blue loctite or just tighten it with a wrench.

Permatex #2 is not silicone.
