So the wifey bought me a 95 F350 CCLB 4wd with no motor to upgrade my current rig and have room for both kids, new born boy and 7 year old girl.
![]() This is current rig, 97 F250HD Efuel, 1.0 housing TS chip with canned tunes and 4 wd conversion. I am looking for help to make it into my daily driven work truck (current rig has 535k), ya know the normal long lasting super reliable and can tow up to 25-27k combined multiple times per week. What setup would everyone recommend for this and looking for probably 400-450 hp ish. I have the go ahead to from the wifey aka boss to get motor and rebuild/upgrade as I see fit. Thanks for the help. Also need a name for new truck ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What is your budget? Is there any particular reason to use this truck or body style? Other than the Mrs. bought it for you of course.

Had the blue truck for 13 yrs and we both live the body style. Budget, no timeframe to have it done just build and go. Would prefer to have the engine side done prior to install. Already have intercooler and 6.0 trans cooler for new truck and just collecting parts

This is general, but with stock motor, upgraded hpop, 238/80(detuned, I have 160/30 but 160/80 would be better single shot tunes), 4-in exhaust, cold air intake or intake for 2001(has the tabs that break fixed), larger turbo of some sort(38r was the deal when I built mine, better choices now), a good built trans(to good valve body minimum.... Would get you a long lasting setup.
There is a lot more you can add, to everything.. but these basics would get you there.

Thanks everyone, I am leaning toward the 200/100 and the 364 sxe with new hpop (adrenaline, honey badger, T500).
Has anyone done any head work? Porting and such? Is it worth it? Headers? While the motor is out probably going to do head studs, valve springs etc. mights as well do the port polish and such if these mods are worth it but I don’t know enough about this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

![]() Even simple head port/polish will lower your observed boost pressure-meaning less airflow restriction. Bonus, if you can run a die grinder with a flapper wheel, it's easy and quick to do without paying the big money. I'm not saying that the home job is equal to a cnc port and polish by any means, but it's pretty easy to gasket match and polish runners. That vs a 1000$ cam? No contest in my mind. At 500 hp, it's a no brainer. At 900 hp, well that's a different animal. P/p at 500 hp lowers back pressure, boost and could very easily improve the torque and horsepower curve.

And I'll say that head porting paired with a cam, and headers is a great power recipe. Problem is porting is expensive, as are headers. It all plays a role in the big picture.
