I hate facebook groups. Forums are great because they're organized. You can find old posts and topics easily, it's easy to follow builds and projects, and they're infinitely organizable.

I don't know if you guys know what a listserv is but way back in the late 80's a guy made a program that was one step above a group email chain. You could add and unadd yourself from the listserv, it would send welcome emails, etc. But it wasn't searchable, at least not very well, and it was all linear and in just one group.

Then you had usenet, which had threading, but had expirations and minimal organization. Then came boards and forums that had a lot of organization, great storage, and was very easily searchable and browsable.

Then Facebook came around to cast us back to the listserv/usenet days. Chronological order only or no order at all, minimal threading, no organization, and nearly impossible to effectively search.
