Hey everyone.

When Doing head gaskets and having the heads checked is it worth having aftermarket high rev valve springs installed? Reason for me asking is I'm about to tear my truck down and start building it. The truck is no longer my daily driver so I consider it a toy now. Its going to be a mild build with a Barder 2.5 turbo, 190cc 100% injectors, regulated return and fuel system. Still undecided if a ported intake and BD exhaust manifolds will be worth it to me.

The heads will be machined and checked for cracks also a valve job.

If you're going to be chasing power then I'd throw springs on it for sure and do pushrods now too.

Just purchases springs and pushrods from Jared at RCD. He's awesome to deal with. Give him a call. If you're pulling the heads...I'd definitely do springs and pushrods. Just some extra added security knowing they're in there.

Oh right on. I wouldn't feel right putting it back together with my originals... That being said... What about rocker arms? I've never seen a stock rocker arm dump it's needle bearings but I have heard horror stories. Last thing I need is to spend all this money and take out my low pressure oil pump and front cover due to a rocker arm letting loose... what should I do there?? Truck has 170k miles on it

There isn't any needle bearings on the rocker arms. There's a small ball bearing on the bottom that it rocks on. There are roller rockers for these engines....but I hope you have deeep pockets. That's the only other option other than stock for rocker arms.

Here's what the factory rocker arms look like.
