Progress Update

Got the Oil Fill and Front Cover off last night.

Two bolts were hiding

Slid right off with no effort after I found them. Need to move my brighter shop lights back over.

Got the first pass of block surface cleaning done as well. Used a Scotch Brite Roloc 120 grit wheel and it worked like a champ. I'm gonna go over it a few more times with a light scotch brite pad to even up the whole surface.

This is the video I followed:

Carbon Build Up on Top of Cylinder

I need advice on how to deal with the carbon build up right at the top of the cylinder?

I hate to scratch up the cylinder wall in anyway. What have people used in the past? Or do you just leave it?

Razor blade? Then a scotch brite dabbed in oil/brakeleen?

Tial Wastegate Flange

Could anyone help me find a new wastegate dump flange for a Tial wastegate?

I just need the flange to weld into my downpipe. The downpipe I received from the individual I bought the turbos and wastegate setup is garbage. Looks like someone took it out back and shot it up a few times and then welded it in blindfolded.

The flange measures 45mm/1.75" inside diameter.

Ps. Get the updated rear main seal for assembly, others may say the pre-update is fine. But after 57km on my new engine i got a pretty decent leak from
The rear main lol, theres an update for it. I got it and it’s orange and beef’ with a extra rubber seal on it.
Idk if the machine shop installed it incorrectly or not or bad part but Its leaking. And now i gotta pull the tranny etc to fix, replace all the one time use flywheel bolts..i just put new lol etc So save your butt. It’s $89 CAD my cost from Ford.. it’s orange on the inside.

Cylinder Cleaning

I removed all the carbon build up on the very top edge of the cylinder by very carefully skimming the edge with a razor and oil then finishing it up with a Scotch Brite. This made the cylinder edge sharper and way less junked up. To avoid material from falling around the edges of the pistons I cut out oil absorb and fit it into the top edge of the piston. The rest was pulled out with a vaccum.

Webasto Mock Up

Started mocking up my Espar/Webasto. It'll go behind the transfer case and in front of the fuel tank on its own custom plate. The plate will have the mounting nuts tacked down so that I can get underneath the truck and pull the entire Webasto system, air intake, exhaust, wiring, and coolant manifold down and out for maintenance. It'll be fully enclosed or at least on two sides to avoid road debris.

I've been reading a bunch about truck bed camper systems. I'm hoping to have two seperate circuits, potentially with electronic zone valves. One just for the truck and one that goes up into the bed/flatbed to a set of quick connects then into a truck bed camper (In-Floor Heat). Webasto can heat just the truck or just the truck bed camper or both. Also the engine can heat the truck bed camper while its running. Hopefully everything will have some sort of quick connect system and can be somewhat automated through some zone valve switches. 5 Year Goal is to to live in the truck and camper for a few years while I circumnavigate North America. The more connected I can make the camper to the truck the better. Hopefully the charging system of the truck can also charge the battery system of the camper and maybe vice versa with the solar panels on the camper - this is why I am adding the dual alternator kit to the truck.

This is the company I hope to build with in a few years. Still not sure if I will keep the bed on or not. Ill at least have the truck 100% dialed and ready.

Would you be pushing the gear ratio envelope to far by running 3.31's and 22 inch rims with maybe 305 wheels?

I'm looking to get MAX fuel economy out of a F250 with a truck bed camper in the back.

What is the highest gear ratio combo you would want to run with a 22 inch rim and tire before your RPMs would be so low it would surge?

I'm about to put True Tracs front and back and want to play with ratios lower than 3.73

I'm thinking 3.31 or 3.55 with 22 inch rims

Drive Ratio

You need to be considering OD of tire not rim size.

Yep I understand that, don't really know why I put that in there.

I'm guessing I'll be running a 305 - 325

That's the biggest ill be able to fit with how I have my truck sitting.

I should be less specific with this question.

Does anyone have experience or heard of anyone ever running 3.31 gears in any F-250 diesel ever? How did it go?

I had 3.55s and 35s on my 2010 6.4 I loved it for highway cruising. 3.31 gears are would lower the rpms to about 93 percent. Might be a bit low but if you run smaller than 35s, it should work fine

2011-2012 trucks came with 3:31 from the factory...not sure on the od ratio in a 6r140 off the top of my head though. I ran 3:55 and 35s on my 2010 6.4 and it was fine. I wouldn't do 3:31 personally as you are lugging the engine and straining the drivetrain more than necessary. Will be smokier off the line and if you do much in town driving, mileage will be terrible.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm thinking if I'm gonna change it Ill do it right before the long road trip or go in the middle with the 3.55's.

Looking for recommendations on the best looking LED tailights. Can the 6.7l taillights fit into a 6.4l?

Best gasser removed shock available. Heard rumors that Carli can build up some custom length shocks. Do the fox shocks work well?
