I have a 2017 6.7 powerstroke which has been problem free for 42k mi. Talking to one of the local ford dealer technicians, he claimed ford redesigned the bearings in the 2017 6.7 to have a tang (keyed) to prevent them from spinning. I know the older ones didnt have this. There any truth to this? It would bring some peace to mind if this is true. Thanks

I know they redesigned the end gussets on the 17+ SD cranks, they are like 33% bigger. I had not heard of keyed cam, rod or main bearings yet.

If they did that would be cool as there are a lot of complaints about crank walk in higher HP builds on 6.7's.

For a stock truck though I wouldn't worry as long as you maintain it regularly.

Recall? I never received a recall for the lpop. I brought it 8n to have it tested for a tsb just to have it checked out but it did pass. Yeah hopedully someone who has torn into one of these can chime in and confirm or deny the bearing change
