Good for you Jake.
As crazy as it sounds, I know how emotional it can be to sell a vehicle that we’ve owned for years and learned a lot on.

Thank you again for everything Jake! It was good to see you again, 5 1/2 years has been too long.

Whitey is running strong. 150+ miles into the 1000 mile drive back to Kansas.

I hope I can take care of it as good as you have. The man, the myth, the legend (and his well cared for pickup) just before we left...

Made it home this morning around 5am. A bit longer of a trip home than originally estimated but all went fine. Truck ran flawlessly the entire way.

Stopped in South Haven to see the Lake. Us flatlanders from Kansas don’t get to see bodies of water like that very often. I put my mark on the beach with my boots! Lol

Stopped several times to stretch our legs. Can’t roll hard and fast like I used to because I had my 76 year old Dad with me. Used to road trip a lot but haven’t in years. This may be one of the last ones. Due to some road closures on 36 highway in Missouri, we instead headed down to St. Louis and catch I70. Ended up dodging some severe thunderstorms all around that area. No hail, just lots of rain. One thing I found out is that I need to upgrade the headlights. A couple white boys rolling through Ferguson... we just touched it out! No way we were stopping there.

Got a few hours sleep this morning and went to work on the truck. Beautiful day and the rest of the week is calling for rain. I told Jake before we left that I’d be doing a few things right away to “make it mine”. The truck will be pulling, just trailers instead of sleds!

So today I pulled off everything sled pull related except the driveline hoops (I’ll do that another time. Also removed the stickers from the windows (my wife’s immediate request). Put a stock back bumper on and got trailer wiring hooked up. Scrounged up an old 5” Donaldson muffler I still had in the junk pile and installed it with the turndown right in front of the axle. Will go over and out the back later on. Outside of a gooseneck hitch and receiver hitch I’m picking up from a buddy tomorrow night, it’ll be ready to haul all summer.

Will just service it and use it all summer, then tinker more over the winter. I’ll do my best to make Jake proud of my ownership! LOL
