Default I need some expert opinions

Hey guys and gals,
New to PSA but I've been into sleds my whole life so I know how the whole forum/FB group thing works.
I'm looking to buy myself a truck at the end of the year and I wanna know what my best bang for my buck is. It's gonna be my daily driver so it has to be on road friendly first of all, but it's also gonna get some farm work. Pulling out stuck tractors, slapping on the pintle hitch and pulling bobcats and whatnot around. My dad has a 00 F350 V10 dump truck I've driven fully loaded many times so I'm no newbie to driving something relatively big and heavy. I'm also a lanky 6'4 and the eclipse I drive now isn't great for interior room. The mods can wait for later, I just want to get a good truck first. My budget is about $25k and I don't really wanna go past that. I've done lots of digging on Craigslist and it seems like that gets something that isn't a POS. Is a 11-12 6.7 without a million miles a realistic goal? I'm in SE WI and don't mind if it's been in the Midwest its whole life. Feel free to ask if you need my info, I'm here to learn!

Definitely go for a 6.7. base model trucks can be had in that price range quite easily. Avoid 2011 models as they had some valve issues and trans issues.

So a 12 XL? Or is it worth it to bump up to a XLT? 4 door would be nice but not required. A cheap interior is fine with me as it'll probably get dirty and full of salt and snow a lot anyway. A F250 would be fine too, I'd never use all the capability of a 350

6.7 hands down. I'd suggest going for an XLT, the XLT is much more comfortable than an XL. If you do buy one, make sure it has a solid history of proper maintenance with service records to back it up. Example: If the seller says the fuel filters were only changed out every 25k miles, walk away from the truck.

This is one reason I'm leaning towards digging around at a couple dedicated truck dealers that are halfway close.

Do the filters get plugged that fast? What should be the service interval for fuel filters, every other oil change or something?

Edit: and yes an XLT would be nicer considering it will be doing a lot of runs to up north WI and the UP every winter hauling a trailer full of sleds. So 3.5-5 hour trips.

Fuel filters should be changed out every 10-15k miles. The fuel system is the single biggest thing to maintain on a 6.7 . Fuel system failures on the 6.7 is extremely expensive to repair. Also, if they are going 10k miles between oil changes on conventional oil is a huge red flag as well.

Gotcha makes sense. I guess the 6.7 is a little more complicated than the old carbed 2 stroke sleds you can fix with a hammer I'm used to lol. At 10,000 miles on those you change out the engine not just a filter haha

I got a 15 f350 4x4 6.7 with 55k miles for 27k. Its an xl but has pw,pl, heated mirror, ranch hand bumper, gooseneck hitch that was brand new, and keyless entry. I wanted the vinyl seats and floor as i have 3 young kids and i am always busy so i dont have to worry about my boots messing up carpet. Deals are out there just gotta be patient and looks often because when you find that deal it usually goes quick.
