What is this?

After putting on a new belt, tensioner, idler pulley, & water pump I noticed this tucked away. Anybody know what this is and where it’s supposed to be?

Air temp. sensor.
It goes in the side of an original equipment air filter box.
Some aftermarket air intake kits have a rubber grommet for it
to be put back in place.
Some people just zip tie it out of the way or locate it close to the intake.

Now it’s an underhood air temp sensor.

I remember someone mentioning the pcm uses that input, that's why it's there. I don't remember where/who? I just drilled a snug hole in the end of my Donaldson and stuck it in there.
