Has anyone used the 2013 or newer axles in the obs trucks. They have the massive brakes and want to use them for that.

Is it the same as doing the 05 axle swaps is there anything different. I heard the 2011 and newer axles don't have the speedometer port so how would I get the Speedo to work.

Custom tone ring and VSS mount would do it. But it's more work than its worth. Get a 2013+ front axle and a 2008-2010 rear axle and be done.

Alright I'll just use the 08-10 rear axle. Would the brakes from the 13 axles work on the 08-10.

Is it that important to have a brake that not that much bigger?? Your putting in huge brakes just by swapping to 05+ axles. Need to swap hydroboost and sd master to make it all work. I’ve done the 05 axles in a obs with hydroboost just trust me you don’t need bigger brakes

Obs trucks only have abs in the rear so when you swap to hydroboost, sd 1 3/8” master with the 05 axles you will have the most powerful brakes since there isn’t abs. My truck would suck the front end down so far it took some getting use to as the vacuum brakes and drum brakes on a obs just are not great.

You can put 13+ brakes on any 05-12 axle if you use the 13+ knuckle, bearings and everything.

I tow a 19k lbs 5th wheel, 45 feet long with 2008 dana 60 w/ 08 brakes, and a 06 Dana 80 rear, in my OBS and it's more than enough.

The front axle I would just get a 2013 or newer for the brakes. The rear axle from 10 and older is what I wonder if it could be converted to the 2013 or newer brakes. There seems to be a large difference 14.3 vs 13.6 diameter and 1.5 vs 1.3 thick. Better to have to much brakes then just good enough.
