4r100 over heating

Few months ago I was just driving around normally and trans temp started climbing. By the time I got it home it had pushed the converter seal out and was dumping fluid, only for about a 1/4 mile if that. Put new seal/fluid in and it drove/shifted fine, but still heats up super fast. Flushed cooler and lines are clear, I don't think it has a thermostat in it but I'm not certain. What else could I look for?
I was told it seems like the converter is going bad.

Converter most likely. Clutches are worn and creating heat.

The 4R100 does not have a thermostat.

It does have a cooler bypass on the passenger's side of the trans. This bypasses the coolers if the circuit is restricted. The spring that controls it can lose force over time, allowing the fluid to always bypass the coolers.

When the trans is hot are the lines to the coolers hot or cold?

Cooler lines are hot.
Replaced the converter, still gets hot and won't shift thru the gears.

Time For a rebuild
