Exhaust to tip help

This might be a dumb question but I have a 5 inch straight pipe. And a 8in tip Im wanting to put on with a 5in inlet (its the biggest inlet I can find) but since it doesn't fit over the pipe being the same size how do you get it on? Do you just weld it at the ends and not slide it over or what? Thanks

an 8 inch tip? sounds like something a chummings tard would do but yeah weld the dang thing...

Cutting a couple slits in the tailpipe should allow you to collapse it enough that the tip will slip over it. It won't allow you to clamp it, but it'll be a little easier to weld.

You can get a 5" coupler with a oversized slip fit on each end and use clamps or weld.

They make clamps for what you need

Usually when you buy a 5" inlet it has the female end to slip over the 5" exhaust
