I am looking into a new clutch for my 97. Does anyone have this clutch - part
SFDD3250-5? If so, can you tell me how you like it?

No idea on the HP - I haven't dyno'd the truck. It has Wicked Wheel, Banks Quick Spool Turbo Housing, TS Chip with custom tunes, E-Fuel, intercooler on it. I pull a horse trailer, and sometimes a Bobcat. Nothing crazy.

If your going to stick with that setup, you should be fine with that clutch.

I've been running that clutch for a little while. (I think it's the same one) but I paid closer to $2000 for it!

How do you like that double disk??
Some people say there slow to shift. Is this true? Is it nice and smooth engagement.

It's much slower to shift than the Con-OFE that was in it.
You won't be banging through gears like a drag truck, that's for sure.
I kind of miss that.
When I first installed it, I was having to double clutch it to get a smooth shift.
It has a slight rattle at idle when it's not in gear.
I've actually started shifting 2-3-4 and back down with no clutch because I find you have to have your revs matched pretty closely to get a smooth shift anyway.

It doesn't slip though!

It's a smoother engagement than the con-OFE was at low rpm. I found with the OFE, it was really jumpy if you tried to baby it off the line.

The double disk is better, but still can be a little bouncy if you're being a fairy.
You can pop the clutch at 2000 rpm all day long though, and it won't miss a beat.

Okay that's great info
I got a con ofe now and just always wondered what a dd was like.

Mine is good so far at 450hp at the wheels. Shifts good.

I've had that clutch in my 97 CCLB for almost two years now. I haven't had any issues and can't really complain about drivability with it. I haven't really noticed any noise from the clutch but everything else makes noise on this 300k mile truck so I just might not hear it.
