opinions on bed/flatbed

the truck in question is in the project section.. figured i would start a new thread.. here is the project thread with pics http://powerstrokearmy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24560

need it under 7000lbs.. i like the flatbed look but its heavy, and its going to get a d80 drw axle. if need be i can run srw tires on it when dding it and put drw tires on it when pulling...

should i hack up the flatbed to cut weight?

put a normal style side box on it?

put a normal box on it with fender flares similar to the 2012 dually fenders?

put a normal dually box on it from its era?

yeah its a long bed.. thats something ill have to think about weaz.. long ways away to trade though..

its a well used flatbed anyway... prolly need a bunch of tlc to make it purdy... but im in no hurry for this to happen... this year i hope to have the axles done along with the motor and then next year hope to have it all beautified with a lighter bed... if i do get the motor done by summer and can pull it around here, ill just run the 8k lb classes..

i would leave it on there but its going to be built for a dd/workstock puller, possibly a 2.6 truck down the road. need it lighter then 7000lbs.

30 some guys have viewed this thread and only 11 votes... does anyone use a normal computer so they can see the poll or is everyone on tapatalk?

as far as i can tell my local pulls are the only ones who do a 7000# class... and thats a wopping 3 pulls... so until i find rules that state a flatbed isnt allowed then the flatbed is staying on till everything is dialed in. but keep voting cuz until then i still want to see what should be put on it later down the road.

i will for now, but once i get the complete setup done i want to be able to hang as much weight as possible on the nose...
