Why would you want to do that? I would think it put a lot of pressure on the bead .

What size rim? Anything less than 22's will look like poop stretched out that far, it only works with small sidewalls

When did the low profile stretched out bubble ricer looking tire become cool? I thought the diesel crowd hated on ricers?

That's what I'm trying to figure out... Looks like what the kids did in high school with there Toyota Tacoma's. I really dig with 12.50 and 13.50 on 12 wides but 14 stretches way to much IMO. To each their own though

I agree with you plus it can't be dot approved, puts your rim out to be scratched when off road

For the OP here are 35x12.50 on 22x14. No one has had any issues with running narrower tires on wider rims. They still wear perfectly even too. I understand its to each to his own on looks too.

The set off the truck were on buddy's excursion and heavy as his truck is he has had no issues with them at all for 2 years even with sled pulling and at the drag strip.

To each his own, I don't like how the long sidewall looks when its stretched out. The tire ends up looking like this < > cause the tread is too narrow and then it bulges out around where the rim is.

I like the way it looks. But my preference comes from the mud racers back in the day. Like 14 wide boggers on 18 wide wheels and bead locks. And I grew up in the land of the lowrider in NM where they had wide wheels and low pro tires. And I'm guilty of running wheels and tires like this. I think it looks cool. Just a matter of opinion.

I was just wondering the same thing. I remember that look being "cool" back when i was in jr high. It is so lame. you cant air down to go off road with out blowing a bead. I just don't get it. Maybe I am too old. Is this the look you guys are looking for. http://bringatrailer.com/2011/12/28/...-caddy-diesel/

I picture an overly fat person wearing lycra when I see the tire/rim combo of the topic. Sure you are allowed to do/wear what you want, but should you?

Right. As I said its all a personal preference. I would prefer a 12 inch wide wheel at a minimum. That's just me though. I'm not into the narrower wheels unless its in the form of a stock 20 for example.

I personally like the wide look, everyone has their own taste. If you don't like it thats great, but I can bet there are people who don't like your style just as much.

Here's some of mine when I had 20x14's and 34/14.50's.

Nothing wrong with that... The rims are the same width, or slightly less then the tire. I think for my taste its too wide and hangs out too far, but it looks nothing like these stretched out fugly deals...

Depending on the wheel diameter the 12.50's don't look much difference.

Both sets are Weld Mountain Crushers. One 8x170 and one 8x6.5. Probably some of the rarest. Mark with superduty set talked to weld about some new welds and told them about his 17x14s and they wanted pictures because they were surprised to still see a set.

Tire machine doesn't help. We push most of the tires on by hand. We never use either. Can usually get em with two cheetahs and a air line. Sometimes got to use 14 inch 2x4s in the tires for a few days.

Stretch the tire with 14" long 2x4 for a week or so then use ether and a hand held torch to seat it on the bead. Works everytime.

As far as the gayness goes I think trucks can pull off the look of small tire wide wheel Alot better then cars do. I think there are more pressing things that make trucks looks like rice cars like eurotail lights, stupid looking headlights and mall crawlers imo.

I purchased my lift and wheels as a package used. I liked the stance of the truck with them, but wanted a wheel with a flat lip. The XD wheels were to "bowl like". I was going to run the Fuel x14's, but at full turn my tires were rubbing on the lower tab of the front fender. I didn't want to go up any higher or start cutting metal on a brand new truck so went with 22x11's.

When I first lifted

And how she sits now.

Love the look, and it sticks out plenty without having to stretch tires with 2x4's and all that other crazy stuff. I've always loved that truck! I was on an F150 forum the other day and came across your old F150. You've built beautiful trucks man.

Thanks very much. A 22x12 wheel appears to be a perfect fit for a 13.5" wide tire. I find with the 11's I still have to much "bubble" in the tire.

It must have been f150forumsonline. i use to stay on there a lot. Some times I regret selling the 150. There is something about the color that I miss along with the center consume shift.

I have 20x12's on 13.50 and the sidewalls are still pulled in more than I'd like. I think a 12.50 on a 12" wide rim is the best look, the tire and rim are almost dead even.

yes they do. I have seen several sites mention rim width that is meant for that size tire. for example, my 37 13.50 18 are meant for rims between 8-11 inch wide rims. this stretched tire look may be "cool" but for us guys here in the south west it does not work because when you air the tire down to go offf road you blow a bead. I can air my 37's down to 10-15 psi and they dont come off the 18x9 rim there are mounted on.

Thats what i thought. You mean I'm not the only one that goes off road with my lifted truck?

I don't take my truck off road. I like for it to be and stay clean. Underside as well as outside.

Does that make me less of a man?

22x12.25 with 37/13.50/22's. I'd actually like a little bubble to protect the rim more.

For some reason I actually like how yours fit a little better than mine. I'm not sure which wheels you're running, but the AF 12" wheels have about a 1" bigger lip than my x11's and also stick out just a little more.

We tried that. It's a small sidewall and the fuel tire is really stiff. On another note, my coworker is missing an eyebrow

Are you putting air to it as you light it?

The way I do it is...I use good John Deere ether, spray the tire, instantly hook up the air hose, and lite the flame. I've done that on everything from ATV tires to truck, tractor, semi, to logging tires and it always works.

Gotta have john deere stuff. Bargain part store ether isn't nearly violent enough lol I put 275s on a 10" rim and it took 2 guys holding the tire with an airline hooked up and another guy to hit it with a cheetah. I think 99% of the problem was just the way the inside of the rim was shaped.

I've always used a ratchet strap for tractor tires. Maybe put a strap around the top of the tire, then spray a generous amount of ether around the ring. Good luck with it, that doesn't look fun lol

Trust me man it isn't fun. I tried the strap. No go. Despite my greatest efforts, and yelling chants and abra cadabra, it still won't seat. Oh well. Beer 30

What we did is put the rim on the machine and 3 of us twisted and pushed down to try to get the bottom bead to somewhat seat. To the point we were turning the tire machine lol 2 of us held up on the tire as best we could without popping the bottom bead. Had an airline hooked to it and left room to get a cheetah in and we were able to get them to seat. Ether didn't do anything and ratchet strap just caved the tire in. I know tire and rim size are different and from the looks of it you may be dealing with an even stiffer sidewall.

Nahh broski. It don't do it. The way the wheel is designed it's concave. There's a solid 3/4" gap between the bead and the tire and it's gotta travel about an inch up before it contacts the lip. Gonna dismount and try it on one of my American forces since I don't have tires yet. Should be a sexy display

2 cheetahs and get something slick on the rim near the top we use same lube we use on trans parts. There hasn't been a 12.50 on 14 wide we couldn't get with that method.

No offence to anyone your into what your into but WTF? why would you want 12.5" wide tires on a 14" wide rim!? So you can scuff up the rim instead of the tire? the 14.5" wide tries look really well on the 14" wide rims leaving 1/4" over either side but....wow I just cant believe people do the whole jack up the SD and put tiny thin tires and wide rims with the front up in the air. Isnt that a Chevy guy thing? Anyways I am sure there are things that I am into that make you ask why as well but I just had to voice my $0.02.

I agree with you, I did rant a little.
Not my cup of tea as I would rather scuff a tire rather than a rim and it must be really hard on the sidewalls and bead but do what you want and I will do the same.

Yea. Some of you guys need to put yhis in perspective. My superduty ran 16s for years. One got damaged and I went to a 16.5x14 weld. .was too wide..went back to a 12 wide 16". Three years later, about 06, I ran an 18" weld. Loked awesome with a 35 but I frikkin got used to the 16/37 being curbproof and shwacked a rim off the curb..after a week

Went back to 16s. When I retired thst truck 3 years ago I went to a 35x12.5 on 20x12. Wish id have gone 22x12 or 14. When it drives and parks where a car does, it doesnt matter.

I was going for the more nostalgic look from when I was growing up.
Before weld went bankrupt
