Being that we aren't vendors here we have been biting our tongue at all of the previous posts referring to us but since Matt wants to address us, we will tell our story.
Matt's DPC truck was built to compete in the DPC & then be a street driven truck (but more on that later). We couldn't have asked for a better running truck.
The only issue we had in Denver was a blown boot (see current Diesel Power Magazine) which was quickly fixed.
Contrary to what was previously posted, we only had Matt's truck for 3 months (almost to the day).
The truck arrived to us in a non-running condition & was found to have a melted short block that affected the heads. The truck was built with all parts completely at cost with very little labor. We started tearing Matt's truck apart at the end of February & had the engine pulled on February 28 (yes it was quite some time later but we had customer's scheduled ahead & the truck arrived earlier than originally scheduled.
It was built in 1 month (while we waited on Matt to decide what he wanted to do with the engine- he was trying to get Crower to foot the bill on the long block) with no other trucks being built at all. We lost our A$$ on it. The truck received a new long block fully balanced rotating assembly with Carrillos, studs, valve springs, push rods, full afm porting and head machining for valves and springs. 1 new injector due to when the truck was built the first time with the Crower rods most likely assembled in a dirty environment (we suggested changing all 8 injectors due to dirt in the fuel system & he knew this but only wanted to do 1)so thats what we did. so we assembled with the larger nozzles. As well as a compound turbo set-up, dual fueler, ATS trans, battery relocation, Nitrous, Methanol, 4 link front control arms etc etc. Many of these items Matt received as a sponsorship compliments of Amy including Green Filters, Carillos, etc.
We went WAY out of our way for him. We picked him up at the airport on our dime, flew to Denver on our dime, stayed there for a week on our dime, & even bought him & his friends a $300 dinner! We even shut down our shop for those 3 weeks only working on Matt's truck because of the dead line to DPC & the shop was closed entirely while we were in Denver. Never once did we complain.
When the truck left SPE, Matt still owed a bill. One that he signed stating he'd pay a week after DPC. We extend that to 2 weeks to give him more time. We had no clue he had an issue with his truck until we contacted him NICELY & asked if he knew when he could at least make a payment & he said, "If you make me pay, I'll tell everyone your work sucks".
We contacted an attorney to deal with this issue because we refuse to let someone threaten us. Needless to say, Matt was forced to pay his bill & now he's mad.
We can't help it that his truck didn't like the increase in jet size. We had a 45 & 90 jet (we have ran this setup with no issues and no need to gate due to drive pressure staying in check) installed and didn't waste gate it because he was ONLY spraying at DPC he said. Well he went home, tore the truck apart (IDK why?) & put 2 125 jets in it in turn causing way too much drive pressure expanding the bellows. Needing to be wastegated at this point which was not in the original plans) The charge pipe was clearanced but not in the way that was pictured. Matt had a nonreputable shop perform work on his truck changing much of the setup and due to this shops reputation things are being presented not in our favor.
In retrospect, Matt's truck would have never left here due to the fact that he couldn't pay & Matt would have just had to tell DPC he financially couldn't make it. We overlooked that due to the circumstances. We also were never given a chance to make any bit of the situation correct because Matt owed us money.
Had we known Matt had an issue (even if it was one that he caused), we would have gladly helped him. SPE will always take care of issues with all of our work. If it's manufacturing defects we will 100% warranty it. Although for that to occur you must have obviously paid for the product.
Here's a few screen shots showing the timeline of the DPC build-
Less than 3 weeks before DPC, Matt wants a bigger turbocharger-
2 weeks before DPC
Matt's truck when it arrived-
Broken piston oil squirters due to Crower rods that DO NOT FIT!!!
Here's some photos to show Matt was running his truck hard & not using it as the daily driver he requested be built. Keep in mind, DPC ended on May 9-
Here are some examples to show we DO know what we are doing & CAN fabricate, weld, etc.
AFM Porting of Matts heads
Stage 2 Valve Springs with machining of the head to allow for the larger springs.
Finished truck with injectables-
SPE welding-
At any time, ANY of you are welcome to stop at the shop & see any of our work first hand, check out the race truck, watch turbo kits be assembled, etc. We are also more than happy to send any pictures you may request. We have NOTHING to hide!!
