Plate showed up yesterday and it is awesome. It is a stout plate!! Going to be mocking up my own filter and cooler in the next week n a half. Few questions. What would be an adequate size for the cooler? It will be mounted up front behind the grille somewhere. Also what micron does the ford filter filter down to.

the fl2016 motorcraft/racor filter has a micron rating of 20.
the oil filter bypass opens when a pressure differential of 27 psi is reached.

I would try and see about what size the bpd cooler is for the 6 leaker. That should give you a general size.

I would definitely try to find a cooler to match or exceed the factory system flow rating. If you need those numbers I'm sure I can dig through my tech book and find out

Thanks for the help guys. I was looking at and HP6 or HP4 filter but its bypass is 22psi. My goal was to try and use the spot where my fuel cooler radiator was for the cooler. Using that cooler has even crossed my mind.

if memory serves me? oil flow is in the area of 13+gpm. 6.0 is 30ish gpm due to the heui system

on edit. just confirmed the oiling system flows 13 gpm @3000 rpm

Check out the mishimoto oil cooler line:

universal-25-row-oil-cooler-177.jpg

looks like bpd is using a 10 row cooler and the one above is a 25.

Mishi also makes a double pass 25 row and a 19 row cooler. They also carry a lifetime warranty.

Well that looks pretty nice. MPD has given me a suggestion but I really lime this as it would fit where I want it. I would go with the 19 row. Thanks for the suggestion

Well the psi relief valve thing for filters is confusing me. I would want as close to the 27psi rating from ford as I could get right? I'm finding a 10 and an 18 micron with a 22 psi relief valve and then one with an 8-10 psi rating.

22 will be fine. the filter just wont need as much debris blocking it before the system goes to bypass.

but i doubt you will be letting your drain intervals go that long. lol

Well I contacted bullet proof to inquire about there filter head and mount. They want 228 for that and a few smaller items with it. I think I may go that route and use the 25 row mishimoto cooler where my old fuel cooler was. Only thing I'm lacking now is a thermostat setup.

Just throwing the idea out there that I've been working on to use MPD's oil plate also. Donaldson # P561141 is a filter head that cost $26 from CAT. It has -12 FORB in/outlets, 25PSI bypass, max 30 GPM, 150PSI working pressure and a wide range of filter options. Mounting is pretty basic and easy, I used Donaldson filter heads on my custom fuel set up and just got some aluminum angle pieces and drilled some holes for the mount. Heres a link to some of the specs: http://www.donaldson.com/en/ih/support/datalibrary/000697.pdf. See anything wrong with this that I'm not catching?

Ya I definitely know its high but I was also shooting for looks as well as function. I'll check the head out to see what it is . Where I want to mount it, looks really aernt that big of a deal so I'd more than likely take the extra $200 and buy line and fittings lol. Thanks for that.
I think a thin cooler like our trans coolers would fit behind the inner cooler and be nice and hidden but I couldn't really find much. Honestly didn't look that hard as I was given 2 good options already. I see your stock bumper is gone but possibly in the center of yours.

Behind my bumper had crossed my mind for the cooler, what worried me was lack of air flow. I would def be in the right area, fairly low and way out in front away from engine bay heat, but I was unsure on it too much air would be blocked. My filter is gonnaget mounted in there, so it would be ideal for the cooler to keep everything nice and compact.

I suppose I should just buy a cooler and start playing around with ideas, I do have Summit Racing 45 min from me... so if nothing else I can keep going back and exchanging out coolers if I cant make them work lol

Are you going to be running -12 lines also like in the BPD kit? As mentioned above oil fow @ 3k RPM is only 13gpm. I def don't have a huge HP truck and don't spend a lot of time at, or above 3k RPM, so I was thinking -8 lines should be plenty good and easier to route for being smaller.

Do you have a winch fairlead hole or no? If not maybe cut a nice set of holes or slots to allow air but still maintain protection and strength.
Ya I'm gonna run -12. Little harder to work with as I'll be doing stainless but it will be worth it for volume.

Ryan has the right idea here. DO NOT sacrifice flow for smaller easier to work with lines and assume it will be ok. Been down this road before with fluids.

So basically by the sounds of it -12 is the way to go with all this. Just gonna hunt down a cooler from Summit now and starting trying to fit things behind the bumper.

Whats everyones thoughts on the parker push lok hose? Its easy to work with and has a 300psi working PSI, just need to find out the working temp?
