Hey guys, kinda new to this forum. I still need to post an introduction thread but that can wait. Just want to say that I've been a lurker on here for a while and truly enjoy learning from all your guys' conversations.

Anyways! I am looking to buy some new headlights with my tax return. The stock headlights aren't all that great on my 1997 F250 extended cab, 7.3L. My stock ranger headlights were much better oddly enough.

In particular, I am looking into projectors and HIDs. I like the look of the black headlights (not tinted, I think those are pointless). I found these Anzo's on autoanything and really like them. Anyone have experience with these or other aftermarket headlights for our OBS trucks?

Found here:

and here:
4300K Slim HID Ford 92 96 Bronco F150 F250 F350 Halo Projector Black Headlights | eBay

And one last afterthought, how come all the aftermarket websites come up with little to no results when I say that I have a 1997 F250 but when you input 1996 or earlier F250 or F150 or Bronco, there are loads of results? I am pretty sure they are identical, and if they aren't, close enough to make it work cleanly still. Correct?

Thanks in advance guys!

Because the 97 was an odd year for the body style, there was a 97f-250HD (OBS) and a 97f-250 light duty (newer f150 style body with 7 lug wheels). And 96 was the last year for the OBS in the f150.

So when searching for aftermarket parts, save a headache and type in. 96

If you want hids and perfect lighting you have to use a hid projector not a std bulb projector. No one makes this but we can retrofit a hid projector into stock housings. PM me if I can help.

And F350's were still OBS in1997. But the F150 went ugly that year. Safest search is to use 92-96 bronco as they quit making them in 96. It was a sad year for me

The standard black bezals look terrible on just about anything other then a black truck, so I painted mine.

As far as the headlights go, they are terrible and I cant wait to get rid of them. Been running them for a little less then two years and I like the different look especially paint matched but the low beams are weak and a pain in the ass to get adjusted up right.

I will comment it is very cheap to buy the parts and do this yourself, costs half of what some of these kits are sold for, and utilizes the same morimoto parts. Worth even upgrading in my book.

I like they way they are. I'd suggests getting the hid version just because it's better lighting but I wish they had hid for the high and low beam. I had it figured out on the regular bulb knew that I could get both high and low on at the same time. That worked perfectly

Depends on what set up you go with. Go with a true hid projector set up/ bi xenon, and it uses 2 bulb for high and low beams. It uses a solenoid to move a shield to expose the full beam. The shield is what creates the cut off line and the "step" in the projected beam pattern.
