this is for the guys who drive in the worst conditions and still want some gains over the stock airbox.. i have tried every cone filter, wet or dry, on my dually 7.3 and they all at some point dusted my intake.. to this day i refuse to run a cone filter... i would really love the no limit intake from bigr but i just cant do it.. so this is what i decided to go with as i have one in my 01 7.3. so i figured i would try it here.. its a big ***in filter. its 10.5"x10.5" so its tight.. it still wiggles so its not super tight but it wont move much..

i just used a stock lid and cut it off exactly the width of the clamp i was using, a 4" to 4" boot that you can see is stretched some but it fit good, a 5" long piece of 4" exhaust pipe, and three stainless t bolt clamps.
i dont have pictures of the metal support that holds the bottom of the stock box but that needs to be removed with a 13mm socket. also the ram air tunnel thingy that the stock box draws air from the ftont needs taken off and is sorta a pita so be careful, no pic of that either..
i had to grind off a little bit of the battery box to get the filter lined up with the stock intake tube. you can see where it is the bolt hole for the stock box hold down bolt..
like i said its kinda snug but not like shove it in there snugg..
i have less then 100 bucks into everything including the pre filter..
what i noticed is that down low it feels about the same as the stock airbox, oh i was also running my stock box like this
so it was basically an open element/cai thingy, but mid range and top end it made a big difference sotp and smoke.. cruising on the free way it used to set ya back in the seat when flooring it but now it will throw you back in the seat and cleans up the smoke from my Rudy's/PIP extreme tune a lot quicker..
my boost does weird things as it did before with the stock box.. if i tip into the thottle, with stock box it would climb up close to 36-38ish psi then settle back down around 30psi.. or when i floor it boost will spike real quick then settle back down the same way.. with this filter it is almost the same but cleans the smoke up and takes off faster...
at some point i want to make my own tube from compressor housing to filter but i dont know what size oval boot i need... im happy with it.. enjoy..
im sure i forgot something in there...
