My brother is doing this project, swapping in a set of xl seats from a wrecked '14 xl. Not a direct fit, as the newer cab is about four inches wider.
He pulled out a whipped set of bronco seats that are well past their prime, and since the price was right, these are going in. Still an upgrade, lol.

Just finishing the mounts, when they are back in, I'll get one.

Was he able to install the storage area under the rear seat that locks with an ignition key? That would be sweet if he could

No, he's going to mount a couple of small amps under the rear seats, I guess. They will set on the thin strip of metal that tie the seat rails together.

Not sure where he's going to mount subs, there is only about four inches behind the back seats, at the base, lol. Maybe one under the jump seat in front:shrug:

I'll get a couple of shots of the front seats today, we got them in yesterday, but got sidetracked before actually taking pictures. The seats definetly take up a lot of room, at least an inch higher, and a couple inches wider than the ones we pulled out. However, they don't hit the cab pillars at all, about a finger width of room. Brother is about 6'2-3", and he's got plenty of legroom.

I like the Idea, but how do they look in there? Does it look like 20 marshmellows in stuff in your mouth sorta thing or does it look ok?

Personally, I think they are a little big. Maybe better in a sd. He needed something different, and these are comfortable for an XL set.
There's is plenty of room on the sides, but the height feels exaggerated by the obs roofline. Definetly sit up towards the top of the cab, but not enough to make it hard to see out the window.

I know this is a little late. But all he had to do was bolt the seat to a 40-20-40 seat pan

The seats went into a bench seat cab, brad. Pretty sure he didn't want to get into bodywork, lol. Thanks tho

There is about three inches from the top of the headrest to the ceiling, plus or minus, zilla.

No body work involved.

The factory OBS 40-20-40 set up is 4 major pieces:

A seat pan that bolts to the floor, one that fits the front (and can be put in the rear) of crewcabs, also fits single cabs. The other pan fits extended cabs. The pan can be used with other bucket type seats if desired.

The left and right bucket seats share foam but not upholstery. A favorite trick of mine is to swap the right foam for the left or get right foam from another seat.

The OBS center console base metal parts are different between CC/Single Cab and ext cab. I believe a little creativity could make a extended cab console base work in a crew / single but I just swapped the frames out on the one I did.

So what Brad was referring to was to use the OBS seat pan (base) and bolt the new seats to it. Not modifying the seat pan of the cab floor.
