So I'm going to give a little review on both the tunes.
The truck is a 2015. Only things done to it is the tune, 5" flo-pro, and s&b intake. EGR is not removed yet, just unplugged.
First I'll start with the kem tunes.
Tow- Tow has good power shifts a little firmer then stock. Only issue I'm having is the shift between 4-5 the trans doesn't like it at all.
Performance - Very firm quick shifts power comes on hard and smooth. Turbo lights up instantly. Again still having a issue with having a noise in the trans when if shifts.
(didn't try race)
Race TQ management- All I can say is I drove it five miles and didn't like the shifting at all. Feels like it fuel cuts before every shift so its smoother. I'm not sure. I'm going to keep it on Tow or performance tho.
Now I'll go onto the PIP tunes.
Performance- This is the only tune I tried from PIP. I love the trans tuning they have. Spot on! I didn't like when the power came on. Seems to be very laggy. Power doesn't compare to the KEM performance at all. Soon as I tired it I went back to KEM tunes.
Overall. I love the kem power curve. There's really no comparison with the power between the two. Kem exhaust note is insane. It's so loud compared to PIP. Kem seems to be more instant then PIP and pulls a lot harder. PIP has very good trans tuning. I know kem locks the torque converter and pip doesn't, so that could explain why kem seems to be a little rough during shifts.
I would recommend kem over PIP for power and sound. Pip over kem for their trans tuning. I Just need to get a hold of KEM to see if they can do anything about the shifts.
Hope this helps anyone on the fence about the two. I will be trying some other companies tunes soon and will do a full review between them all. Any questions just ask!
