I personally like a comanaton of both the Matco and the Snap on. I like the way the draws slide on the Snap on...but snap on has terrible paint. It chips off so easy. I dropped a wrench and now my draw is missing paint...and they dont give you touch up paint. The matco you can literally hit with a wrench and it wont chip. And if it does it comes with a little bottle of touch up paint.

The matco cart just came out that i have...i got a good deal on it and honestly i love it. Our shop has 15 bays so i move around alot so it helps having a cart.

What do you guys perfer? I see alot of snap on boxs...

Just traded my ol snap on for a new snap on Epic series 68" wide in gun metal grey. I personally like how the drawers lock in compared to the slide lock on the old style. I will get pics in a bit.

Actually, that's just the ones in the truck. The ones in the garage are overflowing the tool box. Actually, my garage is a great big tool box.

My wife made me move all my personal stuff to the race shop clean room. Not as accessible as my garage but she also can't come out and say "aren't you done YET!, Hurry up!"

I don't think that's an issue, I have over $175K in tooling. Cheaper isn't always better.

i said cheaper boxes not cheaper tools. although i like my cheap tools, they still have lifetime warrenty and i dont mind putting 3/8 sockets on a 1/2 impact and hammering away. still have not broke one of my lowes tools lol. and i have plenty to build a 7.3 puller, 69 mach1 and work on bmw's. haha cheaper tools leave more money for go fast parts.

I suppose with that logic we should all be driving RCLB 2x4 XL trim trucks. That ein't going to happen either. I agree that buying less expensive tools will work, such as I only own craftsman sockets, and Craftsman impact socket and have never been let down. If you use your tools everyday all day there are major differences between lowe's, craftsman, and the higher end truck tools co's. Your hands will appreciate the higher end tools.

for sure, higher end usually is better warrenty too. i just like cheaper stuff cause i dont depend on em everyday and i am hard on em. i have never understood the huge boxes though, my buddys huge snap on box if half full of random junk lol.
my everyday toolbox is an 04 chevy 3500 4x4 w/ enclosed utility bed. has exhaust, cai, a/c and a cd player.

I fully believe in buying the best tools you can afford at the time. My tools range from cheap 99 cent box end up to some Snap-On. The good part about having the cheap junk tools, is you don't mind hacking them up to custom make a tool for a one time use type of thing.

Does that box come with a step ladder, or do you have to supply it.

Gare could only use about half of that box.

The little stainless box was my first box i got from costco. Thing is really nice and now lives in the box in my truck. The kobalt I got when I started at a shop. Good quality but out grew it fast. Traded that in on the Matco. I also have a snap-on telescoping tray. Comes in handy when working on the engine for a long time

I've noticed in these pics and I'm no different, but we all seem to have tools, parts, drinks, stuff all over our shops and boxs. It's bad how we all end up so similar . But hey guys thanks for throwing your stuff up here. it all looks good, especially the trucks that are rolling toolbox. I just ordered a new box from a co on Ebay that has a Snap On Mr Big for about half off. I sold the box I posted to my neighbor and I'll only be out of pocket about another $5K, but I'll be able to sell my other three (craftsman, and Costco ) box's and finally have all my tools in one box. I'll post up when I get the new one.

Not as fancy or expensive as most of yours, but they do the job.

My first box. I got it in high school. Then the roll away came about 10 yrs later. Now they are my odds and ends boxes.

My new box 13 yrs later.

Not sure what you consider huge, but here's some measurements.
To the end of the box

To the end of the locker

And hight

Totally agree...I have been waiting on snap on for almost a month for a stupid 19mm impact socket....

But then i broke my 3/8 Matco impact and they have to send it out for a month for repairs. He didnt even give me a demo to use while i wait. I just bought the gun last month and its already broke...Kinda mad about it.

Here's my box. Up above the box is a long shelf that i have spare parts, oil, coolant, filters, and other junk on. The red Milwaulkee bag on the floor is full of my power tools. The milk crate has my old junk IDM, and some spare 7.3 parts. Under the table on the left are more toolboxes full of junk, and spare parts. In front of the four wheeler is the stock airbox off the D-max and more 7.3 junk. And this isn't even where i have my spare motor or injectors.

And here is my toolbox/workbench for about a week when i had the fuel bowl and HPOP torn off. This was when i still had all the tools scattered over the motor. Which i gotta say the Ranger is the perfect height for a workbench.

I only dream of the day when i actually have room for all my stuff and have it organized. Its a bitch trying to walk or jump over piles of crap cause there is simply nowhere to put it.

84" Epiq with PowerTop. Not too impressive when you compare it to the $$$ spent on the tools it houses....

Its a Verus. Pretty badass scanner, Windows XP based, four channel labscope, scanner, WiFi...its does it all. Funny...that scanner costs more than my toolbox.

this is why i wont even bother buying any airtools unless they are IR.

Most Matco/ Mac air tools are IR, they just have a different logo on them.

This is mine. 1984 Made In The US Matco with 2 89 Snap On Cabinets ( Made in Canada ). My grandfather gave it to me the time before last when i visited him. You should see some of the diesel tools i got = D

Edit: Im most likely going to paint it flat black and polish/rechrome all the handles and everything. But this is how it sits now.

Seeing that I don't turn wrenches, I don't need one of those $5k tool boxes. My wife probally wouldn't let me have one anyways. I'll buy one this week end when I hit the lotto. This is my roll cart. Recently I had to put at the parts room door for a counter. I couldn't rely or trust the techs for the honor system of putting parts on the RO jobs by them selves. Time to build a parts counter.
Tired of my inventory saying I have 10 and 0 being on the shelf.

Here's what I was using to get the tools out of my old trucks toolbox. It's currently full and sitting in my folks garage since I don't have anywhere for it at the current place. Hopefully will have a garage this coming July and a new bigger box to go with it

my only gripe about this cart is that it didnt come with a fold out shelf or two. i cant put parts on the lid if i need any tools from the top part. got in the way a few times at my old job.

These are set up like a tackle box, you open the lid and then pull these out and they flip out. Mac roll carts are the only one to have them.

If anyone needs tool box accessories this site has some cool stuff. Talked to them and they said they make stuff for companies like Snap-on, but sell it for much less.

Your gonna love that thing. Drawer latches are a bit clunky at first, but smooth out over time. And the power top is the best toolbox innovation yet.

I actually got the box bal in January just got pics up. But yea I love it goin from my old box. Worst thing for me is the power top only charges my cell phone since I do body work I don't use it much but it just looked awsome. And he threw in a new 3/8 impact and 8 in DA if I bought t.

Hopefully I'll be adding a pic to this thread at some point. Just set up an account with the Mac dealer that comes around to our dealership, I've got him looking out for a box and cart for me.

Keepin all ur tools in a truck box is dicey, i'd be nervous, especially after my 6.0 got stolen and they stole the whole toolbox , i just put a bunch of harbor freight specials in my new box. Here's my best piece of advice, since you do keep your tools in there catalog and take pictures of whats in there for insurance if, god forbid, something like that ever happened.

Totally understand that. I live however in a townhouse quadplex so I really don't have a place to store tools anymore. I had the over the bed tool box and was just too visible. So I went to a in bed one and is kept locked.

good advice but if you don't have a separate rider on your policy I doubt very seriously they will give you much, they didnt when mine got broken into.

I am the only person on my insurance. Really, what's in there is under $500 in tools retail value. Which is my deductible.

My problem was anything wrong with the truck was on auto insurance, contents my insurance said would be under my home owners policy. I was out of town so i had gps, ipod, two pairs of oakleys, whole tool box and contents, a really nice streamlight, and a pair of binoculars. The rat bastards left me the gallin jug of oil i had in my toolbox and they also traded their ****ty pos flashlight for my nice streamlight :-( still pisses me off thinking about that

I can finially add to this. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning.

The old set up

The New Set Up Snap On EPIQ series 68" wide 30" deep. KERN682B0. This thing is super heavy I can't even lift one side of it, yet it rolls around great. According to Snapon's site it weights 832 lbs empty

I don't need a roll box because the one set of tools that I have is in the truck all the time, but this one was too cheap to pass up. Now I need to start working on a set for the shop.

she's not real pretty, and she's not real new....but it's mine. 1986 KR1000. Dad bought it when i was 3. He made a living with it, and when he was killed in an accident in '97, the box and the tools became mine. I've added to the collection a bit, she's FULL, but I won't replace it. Been contimplating a refurb on.it soon.

Alot of history in that box
Your dad would be proud to know that it means so much to you.

Thanks guys. I'm probably going back to wrenching full time soon, so.it's going to get an overhaul. Stay with Snap-On red, or something different?

I'd go with a candy apple red or something with a flake in it

I'm a big fan of colors that pop.

Maybe just clean it up real good and get it cleared. It aint my business, but considering it's history, I would want the box to keep all it's physical character.

I had one of those, problem was it tipped over and folded both top drawers up over 90 degrees. that was a bad day, but got a krl1022a with hutch to replace it.
