This truck started it's life as a work truck. I purchased it in 2006 and used it as a work truck. Now its time to play. Its been sitting since 2009 with a fried transmission. I stupidly forgot to blow out the trans lines and install the inline filter when I rebuilt the trans with racer x parts. While I'm getting everything together to send the trans out I decided its time to do the bodywork. The bottoms of the fenders were rotted, cab corners and upper wheel arches.

Pic from 2008 after the stacks, sticks, d66 and trans went it.

Fast forward to last week. Big thanks to my father in law for helping.

Ugh, gonna need alot of uni-spotter pins...
IMG_20111001_143308.jpg

Whoever fixed the passenger side orginaly decided to bang the dent IN and not pull it out and fix it. The mud was 1/4" thick....

I'll get more pictures later, it was getting late. I pulled out a ton of dents and welded in my side. He'll probobly pull the top of the bed rails out and mud it for when i get home from work.

What are all your plans for this? Id love to rebuild an OBS

Mechanically the truck is in good shape. The body has issues from being the bosses truck of a tree company. There was dirt packed everywhere which caused the rot from poor drainage. I'm not totally dead set on repainting the truck white, but i'll probably settle for some black and white combo.

I'm packaging up the trans this week to ship back to racer x to be evaluated for a rebuild. I'm contemplating having the nozzles upgraded on my injectors. I'm trying to get the truck done before the snow gets here. I'd like to build this truck for work stock, then go from there. I'm looking for that nice mesh to make a custom grille that the 2011 guys are using.

How many miles does it have on it? Id paint it like a two tone, white on top, black on bottom. Or even charcoal grey..just my opinion. Is this going to be just a daily driver or tow pig or what?

I'm trying to think of a way to use a semi gloss/ matte back with the white. If i just did the hood it would look like i didn't have money to get the hood painted and its sitting in primer. I need to come down to a body line and or leave some white on the hood or else use a third color and run a design down the side like a c stripe or hockey stick or something. I could always paint it kawasaki green and get the bike to match it.

The truck is just broken in with 155k miles. If I am able to relocate at work it could be a daily driver. I already have a 500hp trans am that gets driven 300 miles a year, i don't need a truck sitting next to it.

Ahhh you know the pain. I need to get my touch back with the uni-spotter. I have 1000 dents to pull so I should be Pro after this.

That would be legit, lime green is my favorite color. Obviously Kawasaki green but it would be unique! Im not mechanically inclined enough to do body work but I do want to learn and appreciate you putting the time in to do this and post pics. After college Im going to do some body work and painting on my 03 so I need to learn soon haha

Its not hard, Its the tips and tricks that no one shares that makes it easier and look good. When you do bodywork, you are making it "appear" to be straight. Having an elite bodyman to lean on is invaluable as well.

I REALLY need to do something like this to my truck. The cab is pretty bad.

One question: When you weld in a new panel, how do you coat the back side to keep it from rusting on the back side? Like when you put in the bed side, how do you get to the back to coat it? I can't see any way to get there.

Take down the two pieces of inner fender. You can still get behind there. I will take pictures of this process when I do mine.

Worked on the tail light pocket a bit last night. I stopped early to watch the Phillies lose.

After. I still need to pull the corner back square, it got pushed a little to the side of the truck. I also gotta work on the upper part of the body line.

The upper part came out really good, I'm happy with it.

This was a dent above and below the body line. Shouldn't need any filler here either.

BMW frozen grey metallic its called. It should look good with the blacked out theme i want to use. It might be a little tough to spray this color in my garage since its a metallic and I have yet to paint a vehicle. I might have to pay for some booth time.
