Default Aluminum Car Hauler Build

So my Dad bought this 48' Raven Semi trailer in 2003-04 when scrap and aluminum prices were up. lucky for us we had a friend that owned a scrap yard and bought this before it was cut up. The trailer was completely stripped down of all steels and sold as clean aluminum. So Dad Rigged up a hay wagon to it and drug it home. It has been sitting till time to start this project. He wants a 30' dual tandem Goose-neck trailer. and told me i can have whats left so 18ft car-hauler it is.

That is pretty badass man. Everything looks great except the black around the welds. Im sure lots of crap has soaked into the aluminum over the years and its hard to clean it out so that makes for a bad weld. It wouldnt pass a visual inspection. Welds themselves look great but that black is no good.

as for the welds I tried to clean the oxidation out as best as i could. Most of the welding is done with a spoolgun Some with my Tig

I've never messed with aluminum, but would it have made any difference to have acid washed it?

the Trailer was cleaned prior to the building process
all the welds will be cleaned when i am done.
As for show quality i am not worried right now. I have found multiply welds from the original trailer manufacturer that have cracked. I have re-welded them since.
I have experienced with Acid was before and I was not impressed with the results I am unsure if it would remove the smut.

So a fellow co-worker showed me a trick of lightly scorched the wood with a propane torch and so i had to try it
I must say the results were outstanding
i then sealed the floor with timber oil to make it hold the texture that it has now

That looks great!

I have saw where people have done that to wood flooring and it turned out amazing. My stepfather did it on the underside of a covered porch roof and it really makes it stand out.

So the Trailer came with these holes for chain tie downs
"Dad Says weld the up" "I say nah it will be cool"
Searched all over the internet to find only one time that looks similar to what would fit
order 10, realize later that i needed 12 and not to mention they don't line up at all
so modifications i made
