Couldn't stand the smoke and EGTs so I pulled the chip and drove around on the stock TDE1 ECM. The truck was responsive and peppy like a chipped stock truck but didn't have the raw power.

Billy,

I just pulled my chip and drove my truck for the last week with just the stock programming and experienced the same thing. If I could have the same drivability with the power of tow/performance tunes I would be totally satisfied. I wish some of the tuners were available on the left coast for live tuning.

I am looking forward to hearing about and seeing pics of your T4 install and how it performs.

Ordered the T4 OBS kit, IC boot kit and a BASB from Jake (Irate) last week. Waiting for it to arrive. There was a delay because the BASB had to be built by Pius (Bell Turbo). I also told Jake to make the DP longer and I will cut it to length.

BC Canada Eh!
the length he sends is good for firewall fitment but useless as an exhaust piece IMO
I wish the downpipe was stainless like everything else he sends

Yes it is. Nice kit but if it wasn't for the DP, it would be a bolt on kit. I don't understand why the stock replacement DP are made to work and Jake can't do it on his DP.

I tried bending the firewall but I failed. I just jammed the DP in there so I can drive it. The BASB turbo spools very easily, cleaned up the smoke and the EGTs dropped. I didn't get on the truck because of the DP hitting the firewall. When I get it back, I'll report back.

I dropped off my truck at my chassis guy to fix the DP. I told him that I would really like a 4" DP :evil. He told me that he would try. I told him that I'm giving him the go ahead to cut the firewall to make it fit.

Also my chassis guy is going to tweak the IC pipes so they line up a little better and fix the turbo to intake pipe.

I let Jake know that he should raise the bellows on the passenger side to gain more clearance.

To get the truck running, I connected some flex to the DP and connected it to the exhaust.

This is my chassis guy's air ride OBS. He built the suspension from scratch.

Billy,

Thank you. That's a great looking setup. I can't wait to hear how it does towing.

I could never figure out why jake can't come up with a better dp Very disappointed when I put mine together. He does such a nice job on everything else.

Got the truck back last week. Couldn't fit a 4" DP right out of the turbo due to the heater core in the way, the radius of a 4" 90 is too much. He re-did the DP and started to go 4" as soon as he could. The DP is 2 piece, there is a band clamp (not pictured) by the 3"-4" transition. The trans tunnel was cut and re-fabbed, sealed with seam sealer then Dynamatted. The inside cab sound greatly diminshed even over the stock replacement DP.

The turbo spools instantly, smoke has been greatly reduced down low and give a little more than a haze up top which I contribute to tuning. My cruising EGTs are in the 500-800 range. When I get on it, I see 1000 then I'm going too fast. Within the next few weeks, probably going to take a trip down to GA for some live tuning to really tune it in. Haven't towed with the truck yet, probably in Sept.

He also fixed the alignment of the IC pipes. The alignment of the IC were not really needed but he did them anyway.

The kit would have been a total bolt in deal if it wasn't for the DP.

Keep your eyes open for some OBS stuff that will be going up for sale shortly. The OBS IC pipes have been sold already.

Good job on the sheet metal work! I'm stoked to hear that someone else is having great experience with this turbo. Definitely what I am going to replace my stocker with. Also, can't wait to hear how well it does towing.

will the DynoProven dp swap in? will they sell it seperate?

I bought a stainless lower Diamond Eye 162003 and welded a section to Irate upper to connect the pieces in a spot you can actually tighten the band clamp
as the outlet of th eturbine is only 3" I dont thinnk there is much gain increasing the pipe to 4", but my truck has 6" stacks so it goes up and up after the dp

I have the slightest idea. My kit is from Irate. Jake (Irate) only supplies the top portion of the DP, you need to finish the rest.

There is a lot be gained if were possible to get a 4" 90* right off the turbo. The bigger the first bend is, the better.
