Channel frame also makes it easier to mount whatever you want to the frame. I'm sure it's stronger than the boxed frames anyways.
This is exactly why Ford left the back half C-Channel. To allow for up fits to the rear. How frame would be nearly impossible.

Another step closer! Finally got it back from having the bed done...now just needs some tint and need to figure out what to do with the chrome on the front

To answer the question on the frame being thicker on the C&C trucks, yes they are quite a bit thicker!!! And in some cases they have channel stacked in some sections, but that may just be on the F550 frames....


Oh, nice looking 2017 BTW!!! That right there is a working man's truck!!! A truck that's going to pay for it's self!!!!

That is a very nice work truck. I completely understand the decision to go cab and chassis. May I ask what a bed like that runs? I got a quote from a builder here in so cal and it was extremely expensive IMO.

That's a sweet setup and a lot of weight. The gooseneck in the bed and those wheels look a little concerning. Looks like you had the bed built to your specs.

The guys with the C&C question its pretty simple. Industry standard for upfitting the trucks. The frames don't have the hike behind the cab and are narrower than the pickup trucks (VIN starts with 1FD on C&C). The frames on pickup trucks (1FT) are wider and you loose compartment space in the boxes since they have to make clearance for the leaf spring hangers. You loose a lot of space with the newer pickup trucks that are outfitted.

I had it made by Douglas out of Bakersfield. Ran about $22k...i put pull out drawers of various depths in all 4 corner boxes which added quite a bit to the price

I had a Scelzi bed built for my truck. 8' utility with a lift gate and some other options, $11K. Ctec in Downey gave me a price of $9800 for the same bed. If I didn't get the lift gate the price would've been $3K less on both. There are a lot of bed manufactures here in Socal. SE inc, Harbor, Pacific, Royal, Skaug, Arrow, Ctec. Specialty truck equipment utility beds are Harbor beds.

**** I got this thing from the dealer with some square trailer taillights and that's it lol no bed, no mud flaps and it was raining. Had those 35s shooting water 15 feet in the air in the highway

California...outskirts of the Bay Area. I have 20% on my windshield, double 5 in the side windows, 37s and no mud flaps on my '11 and never been messed with. As long as you don't have one of those flashy "Cen cal" style trucks they cops and sheriffs are pretty cool

ya no worries lol the final stage manufacturer is the one that puts the the bed on and "completes" the chassis (sticks that sticker on your door jam)

$22,000 bed holy sh!t!! Definitely a sweet looking work truck. May ask what work this truck is going to be used for?
