Yea 2wd you'll be good. The only problem I ran into mounting mine was the original tank strap had to be modified as the tank was larger around than My factory longbed one. You got a steal on those parts. The 08 console alone goes for that on ebay sometimes.

The rhino liner will come off. If you are planning to repaint the truck a wire wheel and a little time will take the rhino liner off. Wear a respirator or a mask causes its nasty.

What did you end up doing with your fuel lines and brake lines? I was think about shorting and re-flaring the brake line. For the fuel lines I'm on the fence stilling what to do there.

Lookin Good! These are so much fun to drive. I love mine.

I put a sump on my fuel tank and ran 3/8 diesel rated rubber line from the sump to the fuel pump. That was easiest. Then I put the return line into the feed side of the sending unit.

Brake lines were easily flared and shortened.

I thought about using rubber hose also, just wasn't sure if the pressure would blow the house off or not. I guess just use a bunch of clamps?

Haven't made a whole lot of progress on it this week with work but I did get it backed into the shop and bed pulled back off.

I dropped the driveshaft off to get shortened and balanced and should it back tomorrow or Friday.

I was able to the passenger dead wired up and everything working. The driver side is a different story however. Passenger side only has three wires compared to the drivers side with about 20 lol. I was able to get the heated seat portion to work but no luck on power yet. Hopefully I can find a wiring diagram for them soon!

I pulled the tank back out as it was covered with sludge on the inside. My guess from sitting for awhile. Should have that back in the fuel system all squared away tomorrow. IMG_4124.JPG

Check the "mint green" wire for power

My seat doesn't have a mint green wire in the harness. Here's what I'm working with.

I've also got a Motorola box of some sort under the seat with several wiring running to it. I'm assuming that was something specific for the Excursion's and I do not have a plan to use whatever it may be.

Google search shows that's the power seat, mirrors, and peddle module.
Appears to be for the memory.

Brake lines were shortened, re-bent to follow new route, and flared.

With the fuel lines I did as stated above. I shortened the lines and used a piece of fuel hose as well. The lines just flow fuel since the pump is frame rail mounted the tank it basically sucks the fuel from the pickup inside the tank and the return tube just dumps excess back into the tank.

That's the exact route I went with mine also. I was over thinking it there for a minute lol

Got the tank and fuel system all squared back up. Just need to siphon over the 3/4 tank of fuel from the original tank.

Put on a 2" drop shackle kit from eBay. Still gotta pull out the overload spring to get it down a little lower and soften the ride up a bit.

Messed with bed some and surprisingly the bedliner is coming off pretty easy. Looks like the didn't do any prep work before hand. This is after about 30-40 minutes with a DA sander.

Originally I was going to go the white/ tan route for paint like the King Ranch models but like this color more. Plus, as far as I know there isn't another shorty in this color scheme.

Made some more progress over the weekend. Should have at the transmission shop sometime this week and if all goes well on the road by the weekend!

Had a local shop in Tulsa shorten and balance the driveshaft for me. Surprisingly cheaper then I thought it would have been.

I still haven't figured out the wiring for the driver seat but am not to worried about it since the seat was scooted back all the way to begin with. I ended up just bolting it in and calling it good for now. I think the seats will clean up pretty good after some conditioning.

I got all of the Rhino Liner off the sides of the bed and one side painted. I ended up using the same paint from when I painted my bumper on my 6.4. I think it looks better then the bedliner for sure. Eventually I'd like to have it professionally painted but this will do for now. I'll have the rest of the lower section painted to match hopefully this weekend.

The fender wells on the bed have a couple rusted spots so I plan on putting a set of the low profile fender flares on to cover that up.

Lookin good!

Now pull 2 leafs out of the rear and level that dude out.

I pulled the helper spring out and was hesitant about pulling out another leaf and not having enough left if I wanted to hook up the boat. Think it would bottom out if I pulled another out?

Started working on the 05 frontend swap today. Picked up a complete front bumper with fog lights and wiring harness for $40 off Facebook.

I've never been a fan on how the 05 bumpers and fenders line up. There's about 2" gap and doesn't seem to be a resin for it.
d5ec7ef6fa0e283e43b78dc831f95a6e.jpg

I trimmed 1 3/4" off the front of the frame and cut up the original mounting plate. Welded the part that the bumper actually bolts onto back onto the now moved back frame which now brought th bumper back flush with the shape and contours of the headlights and almost flush with the fender. It could go back more but that would require trimming of the plastic bumper pad which I wasn't wanting to mess with.

I cut up my old tow hooks from my 6.4 which bolted right up, just didn't take a picture of them.
