I am wanting to add a true 35x12.50 tire on my truck because I am tired of the skinny stock tires on there. I am going to keep my platinum wheels that I added on to my truck but I am wondering how much these 78lb per tire toyos will affect my mpg? I am gettign 18.5 average highway right now tuned and deleted but I am afraid of losing more than 1 with these toyos? I know many other 35x12.50s are around 69-72lbs and I dont know if the added 7-9lbs depending on other tires will affect the mpg that much more?

Please everyone post there experience with these tires and other tires going from stock tires to 35x12.50s. I am very interested to see how the weight of the tire affects the mpg. I know to a certain extent a taller tire could help the hwy mpg by keeping a diesels rpms lower but the weight will kill it.

Thanks,

Cole

I would be willing to bet the 3.31's are the reason you're getting terrible fuel mileage with 35's on the highway.

yeah good thing i have 3:73 left over from my green truck. gonna throw them in.

Sootie what are the exact dimensions of your tire? if they are the LT295/70R18 they are 34.5 tall and 11.6 wide but only weigh 71lbs each.
Thats not bad at all though if they are the 35X12.50R18LT because they weigh 81lb a tire. I feel like thats a huge difference in tire weight.

I could live with only a 1 mpg loss with the toyo mts. I was just afraid i was going to lose like 2 or 3 hwy and that really adds up. The toyos do look amazing on these trucks.

I still bet a tire that has only 70 lbs of weight each would lose less mpg than the toyos though. I still cant believe they are so damn heavy

you will most likely loose 1-2mpg's going to the 35x12.50. If I keep my truck at 70 and under it does about 17.5-18.5 on the highway above 70 it starts going down. Last trip i made at 75 I think I got about 16-16.5

Do you have a lift or are you putting those under the factory 4x4 stance?

I have the plow package and then a 1" leveling kit on the front so its sits perfectly level. I am planning in the future to do a 2.5 inch in the front and 1 inch in the back.

I lost about 2 mpg from 305 nitto at to the 35" Toyo. I had a customer give me a scan gauge and changed my driving habits since I have a fuel mileage gauge to watch and have since got my truck to stay in the 18 mpg range.
