Ok it has sparked my curiousity for quite some time now, about what kind of tripples are right for what application. Basically lets discuss what the pros and cons are of each setup especially if you have experience with either setup. Either 2 atmosphere chargers blowing into one high pressure, or a 3 stage compound setup. Carry on guys......

2 atmo chargers feeding 1 hp. There isn't any successful 3 stage compound setup besides side action diesel.

I obviously don't have any hands on with a tripple turbo truck(well my buddys cumapart but thats a long story) but I viewed a tripple compound setup to light faster and have a longer smoother powerband than a set of twins feeding a high pressure. Also I think that there would be less lag on a tripple compound setup. But I think that a set of twins feeding a high pressure would make more power since it could move more air volume. Am I way in left field or am I thinking correctly? I know KIND(Ryan), bigrpower(Mike), and erikclaw(Erik) all have/had tripples and I hope they weigh in and give their experiences.

Triples were ditched by one of the persons you named....I'm sure they chime in on their reasons....

Hassler had a nice triple setup on his 7.3 back in December. I'm sure zac remembers it. Not sure how it was set up though. Ended quite exciting.

Pros are gonna be a huge amount of cfm with the possibility of having a quick spooling setup. Triple compounds are sweet, but to
Make things spool instantly, you're going to fight drive pressure depending on the configuration.

Cons are cost (extra turbo, more piping) much more extensive gating (again depending on setup) and back pressure as stated.

2 atmos into one...

Cons to my set up, cost, complexity, custom tuning.

Pros, a good amount of cfm, positive boost to back pressure ratio at higher boost numbers, cool egt's and spool.

So far I haven't needed the gates I built into the system. Once I get the tuning down I feel it will spool much better as well as improve overall efficiency. I read in the dmax world Mark @ Danville made over 1150hp with his 2 366's blowing into a 72vgt on a single cp3. WOP/H&S have/had some proven 2 into 1. Any of the big pullers running trips use 2 into 1 as well.

Another thing to keep in mind is there is no need to use large frame chargers for a street driven 2 into 1 set up. 3 66's can produce enough cfm to make 1400hp on the right combo.

This is a three stage we built, spools like stock and is very fun.

It is like anything else...There are sets that work and than there are sets that really work. I could give you good info on mine but they where in a 5.9 Cummins.

Doesn't really matter what platform, we're just sharing experiences. Since triples are much more common on dmax's and cummins it's good to share the growing pains they went through as well as benefits they saw.

I would like to here Zane's opinion!! He's probably the most experienced on here when it comes to triples.

All 3 of my chargers where built by Pius, so I don't have the 3 sizing numbers that everyone speaks of, his stuff does not read that way. We had a lot of gate on them and they where also intercooled between stages. Once we found the sweet spot with the gates the thing was a beast. 90 plus on boost and 70 to 80 something on BP. I made hundreds of pulls on that PSI with just studs in the 5.9. My set made about 2000 CFM, when I sold them to another guy with way more fuel he made 1000 HP and it cleaned all the fuel up. They are now on another truck with bigger wheels and he has made a 1000 plus several times. These trips where very similar to what the WOP lightning had when a 7.3 was in it. They where built as a tow application by Pius, maped to be dialed where my motor produced max Torque...
