So to update this thread. Turns out the reverse piston had a chunk of the seal missing causing a leak. And the direct clutches had also slipped a bit.

There was no clutch material in the pan and the fluid looked new. And it drives fine just the reverse issue. Could be the clutches tho?

Ok thank you for your input. Does the line pressure in the other gears seem high for idle?

We changed the whole valve body from another trans that was working fine and it didn't make a difference. Is there a possibility the low/reverse piston is leaking?

They seem to make a difference in spool up. With the vgt not working it definitely spooled quicker then stock manifolds.

Yea I'm kinda at a loss with mine. When I test the coolant pressure it doesn't climb fast and it doesn't climb with boost. So I don't see headgaskets causing it. But somehow there must be air getting into the cooling system. But the degas bottle always has pressure in I take the cap off.

Well I guess that's possible. I just don't understand why it consistently stops at 160 degrees. But wouldn't it take more boost then 15psi to get exhaust gas into the coolant system to cause a vapor lock? It stops heating while cruising down the road with boost below 15. But when it is heating...

Egr coolers are off. And I did put a guage on it and it was right at 16 psi no matter how high I got the boost.

I have already put two sets of thermostats in. And yes the coolant does get pressurized.

Gonna bump this up. I have supplemental heat so my truck starts heating pretty much right away. Now once the coolant gets to about 160 degrees all heat goes away until the thermostat opens at 203 degrees. Now after that the coolant stays right at 190 and I have heat. Until I shut the truck off...
