i cut out a square directly below the sump in my skid plate.....flipped it over and re-welded it in there....only had to use 2 washers to shim it after that.....there are ridges in the skid plate that help you make more room when you cut out a section and flip it.....
i too have had a run of bad alternators and found the material about the smaller cases.....ordered my 160A large case alt from quick start....no problems since.....i dont buy anything electrical from the local parts stores always oem or highly reviewed aftermarket.....i always get my batteries...
alright so after my fuel gelled on me for the first time ever.....i still have this stalling issue.....truck is an 02 and im a maintenance freak....while driving down the road the truck will just shut off like i turned the key off.....wait to start-water in fuel-and all the other normal start up...
turns out the diesel was freezing up on me....must not have been any additive in it from the station....opened up the drain valve on the airdog while the truck was running and nothing came out.....a bottle of diesel 911 and an hour later it was back to free flowing and it hasnt stalled on me...
alright fellas last week i was driving up to south dakota and had just pulled out on the highway first thing in the morning to finish the drive....it was freezing out like 4* or something.....truck had only been running about 15 minutes but the oil temp was coming up so i left eh hotel jumped on...
