You’d be amazed how long a healthy stock trans will live in a 6.0. As long as the 3-5 shift is tuned right they live.
My advice, throw the stock in, ship the blown up one to Andy Warren and let him do his thing. Guy has more R&D in these than anyone else. Also, he has a fix for the pump issues.
I’ve seen lots of issues with the OBD port itself. The pins get loose and cause all sorts of issues with the device plugged in. You can get a replacement OBD pigtail from Ford with a better pin fit.
S369 turbo kit, regulated return fuel system, 300/something injectors and go have fun until it explodes. You’d be amazed how long those motors last with conservative tunes.
Or sell the 7.3 for way too much money, buy a 6.7 and go nuts with that.
I have a dent in my shop wall thanks to those piece of **** studs. Customer brought in what he claimed were ARPs. Box didn’t look right but I figured whatever. Have the motor on a stand torquing them down. One breaks and shoots across the Shop.
O rings and gaskets are cheap and in stock at your local Ford dealer, just change them. They should also have the early STC fitting in stock. If it has a ton of play it won't hurt to change it. I think they're like $130.
They have all the stock files available to them. When your tuner links your truck, they will associate the correct stock file with your truck based on the parts number of your stock file.
I hope you have some funds to spend then. 600hp out of a 6.0 isn't too hard and makes for an awesome daily driver, they stay pretty reliable at that power level too. I thrashed on mine for 2 years and it held up well. 700-up stuff gets expensive quick.
