    Coolant Question

I do have Ford dealers nearby but was looking through local auto parts and online before going to the dealer. I guess I'll have to go to the dealer then?

    Coolant Question

I searched but couldn't find exactly the answer to my question. My secondary system has a leak and my transmission is getting pretty hot (230+). I know our trucks take special coolant but I can't figure out how to get it. I see VC12 sold by the quart as an additive but can't find coolant by the...

What happened when your transmission failed?

Now that I think about it this shifting pattern has been going on for over a year now with no real change so I am not sure how close to failure I might actually be but I'm thinking it has life left. However I have been getting a lot of howl in the 3-4 shift recently if I am on the go pedal...

What happened when your transmission failed?

I don't worry about temps unless I see 225+ for extended periods which is rare. I just meant that the temps in general are under 200 so heat hasn't been a contributor. As far as the $$$ I'm a financial advisor and hesitate to spend unless necessary but I get just replace and move on.

What happened when your transmission failed?

I have the $ to replace now however I hate spending it if the transmission is still working for the most part. My concern, like yours, is I'll be in the middle of a trip with my fiver in tow when it gives up. Or the market tanks and I don't have the $ easily available when it goes out. So far...

What happened when your transmission failed?

So back to the program :ford: I assume mine is exhibiting the signs of failing but should I be concerned with the upcoming towing season (summer) or will something less than catastrophic likely happen as it really starts to go?

    MPD 66 kit reviews needed

For better but part of that is going from a 37x13.50x20 tire to 275x65x20. I was getting 14 before the turbo in all around driving with maybe 16 at best on a highway drive. Now I get 16 all around and at most 18 on the highway. Towing 15k pounds I get anywhere from 7-10 depending on terrain.

    MPD 66 kit reviews needed

Mileage didn't change much and I do tow with it quite a bit. I have a 42' 5th wheel that is around 15k that I tow the most. When I went from 37s back to stock tires and suspension I can now tow in 6th with the cruise on if the road is flat enough, in the hills I am still locking out of 6th.

What happened when your transmission failed?

I haven't touched the transmission other than fluid changes, every shop here want to replace the transmission and not work on it. If I can find a shop that will just change the valve body I'll try that and new servos maybe. I have no problems with reverse, just 3-4 flare and not engaging at...

What happened when your transmission failed?

I have over 200K on my transmission now and it is starting to get real funky. TC lock is really weird in 4th, 3-2 downshift is real harsh, flare from 3-4, and now 5-6 is not really a flare but more like a lunge into gear. When in gear it is strong but I can notice little less power because of...

    Trans went boom ;( thoughts?

I will. I know most local shops for me other than Truck Source aren't going to have access to Midwest stuff and I won't let TSD touch my truck so you'll be the source.

I like the 63. I think some people expect to mash the pedal and roast the tires so when they get a bigger non vgt they are disappointed. Like any mod I think you have to relearn how to drive your truck. Ease into the throttle to give time for boost, get a good tune for non vgt, and don't expect...

All you guys up here in the North Dallas area better get your Trucks ready for State

Maybe depends on which one? I love mine (45" for 5" pipe) and I have been a straight pipe diesel guy since 97. Super quiet inside the cab and when I am on the throttle the whistle from the turbo is the loudest thing I hear from the tailpipe, gets some looks but could be because I have a non VGT...

What brake pads are rotors are the best for 2013

I put Powerstop rotors and pads on mine and they work really well, noticeable difference from factory. Plus I have little to no brake dust on my wheels. I cleaned my wheels about 15k miles ago and there is no brake dust. I have them on my son's truck and my wife's Land Rover....swear by them...

    2008 f350 SRW and a 14,200 fifth wheel???

No worries. I have a 42' that is around 15k loaded with tanks empty and mine pulls it just fine. Only time I've wanted a dually is when cross winds are 30+ mph. I have traction bars and airbags (don't really need the bags with overload springs) which seem to help.

Seems like a great deal, anyone run this set up?

Never heard of that amp so that would be the only thing that would hold me back. Some times you get lucky and an off band works out however I would not pinch pennies on the amp. Just my opinion. :blah:

    Trans went boom ;( thoughts?

Gotcha. I was referring to Midwest's 2 versions of transmission. My experience with TH350/TH400/AOD/etc...has been that when you really beef up internals and mess with valve bodies that shifting becomes somewhat unpleasant for daily driving. If all things being equal between a street and comp...

    Stock Transmission Longevity

I'll let you know Mike. I am sure at this point it is the trans more than the files but TD tunes are shifting better out of the box than the 3rd revision of GH. TD engine just has a lot of smoke but more power in low boost than GH so GH is the daily and TD is the weekend warrior tune :gun:
