I understand what your saying. But even counting the tc lockup, and the truck remaining in 1st gear when stopped, there should be only 3 up shifts and converter lockup. So the truck should only feel like it has 4 shift changes. Could you send me in the direction of someone that sells tuners for...

His truck doesn't have any kind of tuner on it. He said he would like to buy some kind of chip to make it shift like it does when it is cold. Figured I would try an figure out what is making the truck do this first. Then find a tuner that can make the tranny do this all the time, if it isn't...

Well shouldn it be 1-2,2-3,tc lock, then over drive. Somehow there is a 5th shift somewhere. Maybe the converter is locking, unlocking, then lockig again? He said usually the truck is lugging pretty bad when it shifts normally, but when this 5th shift happens the truck doesn't lug down as bad.
