New member, new to me truck. Trying to get this one going so I don't put so many hard miles on my 6.7. Purchased 2007 F350 crew 4x4 from a guy I know with leaking egr cooler. Has had good maintenance and the price was right. It has 239k miles. I have been planning to keep it as a ranch truck. I started and moved the truck after sitting for over a month in 20 degree weather. It was hard starting but did not miss or run rough after starting, I think the injectors are fine. I have purchased all the ford updates (in a kit from Sinister), an egr delete with oil cooler, also purchased a HPOP and IPR from alliant. I pulled the HPOP today and it still had the factory STC fitting so it's stock. I noticed one of the cam lobes under the HPOP has some galling. It looks to be about 3/4" long by 3/16" wide. I didn't see anything on the other visible lobes but I have not turned it over yet to see the other lobes. This is my first 6.0 job but I have done many inline diesel engine rebuilds along with transmissions etc. I need to get some others opinion.
Should I just fix this truck and sell it due to the cam galling?
If I keep it should I replace the HPOP and or IPR? Ford or Alliant for the parts supplier (is the Ford one more reliable than the the Alliant version, the Alliant is $200 cheaper on pump and $100 cheaper on IPR)?
