Has anyone seen a write up on this? I need to paint my truck but I'd really like to update that front clip before doing so. I've started collecting parts but I'd love to read a write up on it.

Thanks I took a look at it. I also searched the org and found one a thread on there that was pretty helpful.

Yea not much there, but gives you name of company that makes the kit to make it a little easier. Thinking about doing one of my trucks as well, but that's a while away.

I did the 09 clip on my truck. Friend of mine did the 14 clip on his. Very similar install procedure. I know theres a lot more info on the 08-10 conversion. That could help you out also in getting pointed in the right direction.

That guy on the org that did a 2011 clip on his 7.3 just fabbed chit to convert his. I'd have to see what all was in that kit to see if I could justify 500 bucks for it.

Well its been a long time since I've painted a truck. I'm probably going to go ahead and paint it for practice. I read all 13 pages of the org thread and he said the hardest part was getting everything straight and cutting the frame. The rest of it was pretty easy according to him. He did the swap in 2011 or 2012.

From what I've read the 08 and 11 swaps are similar when converting your 99 to 07. I guess that would mean it'd be pretty easy to convert your 08 to a 2011+.

On a side note, did you sell your 08 clip? If so for how much?

we did this on our 15 Harley excursion project.

it started out as an 03.

We used the Mcnasty Customs Brackets which were a great start. I certainly recommend using these brackets, they are heavy duty and no lose parts going down the high way. We also used all ford parts which helped the fitment. We spent a lot of time making the wiper motors and cowl fit properly, as well as lining up the body panels. It was a little slow going at some points, but taking the time was well worth it in the end.

I would also recommend test fitting everything before you send it off to paint.

Frame notch is really easy. Just nerve racking knowing youre notching the end of the frame. the kits you can buy just help align the panels for you, and makes it quicker since you wont have to fab anything like the hood latch and fender spacers. Also the fender spacer in the kits i believe have the mounts for the newer style hood struts built into them, which is probably the biggest pain i had in doing my conversion. I did the entire conversion by myself in a weekend (fri night, sat, sun). Pain taking the hood on and off alone haha
