so my truck has been in and out of the shop.. The fuel pump is going bad. while ******d i had a " reduced engine power" and "low fuel Pressure" warning come on. Filters were clogged with the infamous metal flake. I returned the truck to stock and took it in for repairs. while at the dealership my tech told me that some of the pump whining could have came from my diesel addictive. He claims that the new 15's have a different injector and that we should not be using an addictive with a cetane booster. im new to diesels and i automatically assumed all addictives had a cetane booster in them. Anyone heard of such a thing. By the way the truck only has 14k miles on it. i was using the Diesel Kleen from autozone

Oh boy.....
#1: it's additive, not addictive
#2: some ford dealerships will say anything to not honor the warranty
#3: you're running a cheap ass additive from auto zone in a $50K truck?

If its diesel kleen in a grey bottle made by power services its not a cheap additive. Its safe to use. I dont like it but thats irrelevant.

If i fueled the same place all the time I wouldnt need an additive. Id get it somewhere that had a high cetane rating and had clear information on antigel additives. My neighborhood FS "fast stop" sells dieselex gold that is rated down to -50. And cetane is north of 50 points too.

I dont know why an additive would even come up in a 14k mile truck that has a bad pump.

And Im not real keen on people that return their vehicles to stock condition to try to skirt responsibility for a warranty issue. But thats between you and the man upstairs until its my problem directly.

If your worried about warranty s why don't you run the Ford Powerstroke stuff they sell, if you want good additive try using full torque or opti lube xpd both have noticeable differences
