Yesterday my truck was broken into, the thief stole my manual including the master code for the keypad on the door. Seems the only way to change the master code is to have the entire body control module replaced and reprogrammed by the dealer. Does anyone have another suggestion of how to change the code?

no there is no way to reset the factory door code.

I am assuming that you took a police report and all that? I would claim that to insurance and emphasize that the security of your truck has been comprised. There should be enough in repairs to justify the claim.

Why would you leave that in the truck? These things are common targets for thieves.

Isnt there a way to change the door code? I'm pretty sure the card that has a code on it in my truck is different then the actual code I use. I'm not 100% though. I did have some electrical work done at one point though.

No you can't change the master code but, you can add a few personal codes.

Humm took all personal info out and garage door opener but did not think of the code on the card. Hell, it is in both mine and my wife's. I will have to go get them out.

Look under your dash on the passenger side. You should see a number way up there under the dash. I used it to reset my code in my truck when it didn't come with it in the owners manual. Bought the truck used.

Thank you Dzchey21, I did as you suggested and sure enough Allstate was very under standing and covered the cost of a new BCM minus my $50 dollar deductible... Problem now my HVAC has a mind of its own!

Did you have it properly programmed by the dealer? They aren't plug-and-play.
