2016 Transmission

Hey folks. Been doing some googling, and searching on the forum, and haven't really found what I'm looking for.

Here's what is happening.
When cold, every now and then I get a hiccup shifting into 6th under light throttle. Not consistent. This morning, when pulling away from Home Depot, I shifted from reverse to drive, and nothing. It went limp noodle for about a second, made a "shuddering" sound, then clunked into 1st. This is the first offense, other than the hiccups into 6th. It worries me because the truck was brand new last November, and only has 16k miles, or just under.

Truck has never towed anything over 6k, and when it did, it was never more than a couple hours, and not abused. I took the truck from CA to TX this summer with no issues, at all. I've read that these transmissions had some issues in the first builds, but I'm not finding anything for the 15's and 16's.

So, are there any known issues for the 16's transmissions, or am I just a fluke? Still under warranty, so the truck will be going in soon for a check up, I just want to have some information before I take it in. TIA

Could be a bad solenoid pack.

That was my guess as well.

Are these transmissions problematic? I ran the crap out of my 5R in my 06, before I had to rebuild it. I feel like I've been pretty easy on this transmission, especially not having it tuned.

Not really they're quite stout.

I haven't had any other issues since this incident. I will just keep an eye on it, and see what happens. The lack of participation on this thread tells me nobody has had any issues. Which is good.

The trans in mine has been fine and I expect a lot when towing. Shifting is better than the 6.4 trucks in my opinion.
Sooner or later we need to meet up and have a few beers.

I've had the same problem shifting into 6th when my truck is cold. It'll have a slight shift flare. I'm thinking solenoid but Ford apparently can't replicate the problem so I'm living with it. Very minor at the most.

We certainly do. But then again, maybe not. I've been kicking myself for not buying a DRW, and you aren't going to help that any.

The flares will be something I'm going to have to deal with until I find an aftermarket solenoid like the ones offered for the 5R's.
