4.5 V6 vs 6.0...

ive heard the v6 is a 6.0 with two cylinders cut off...has anybody messed with these v6's? i have one that has a broke ring and nobody sells parts for them. the only way to get one is a complete motor, turbo to oil pan...12k from Ford and 17k from International...

. will 6.0 pistons work in these? i'm gonna tear it apart and see but wanted to know if anybody else ever checked into this?

They are just like a 6.0 but they like to throw rods on the #8 cylinder. I have a cab over sitting here that I have been trying to find a motor and can't. Wanna sell it? 608-778-8531.

How can a V6 throw a rod on the #8 cylinder? That seems to be impossible.

Good catch thats funny. Just had a customer call this morning with low compressin on two cylinders. He had a bad batch of fuel. Are the 6.0 pistons and such the same/interchangeable? He's going to bring the engine down. Then I saw this post realated to the parts issues.

Sorry, I just had it in my head rear cylinder and just naturally thought #8 when it should have been #6.

From what I have seen yes. I believe we still have a piston out of a 4.5 on the bench I will measure it and post pictures of it.

The international part #'s seem to be the same exept for the "p1642" below the ih 182... As long as the pin height is the same the piston should work.
